how do YOU dress to look friendly? and what not to dress?

Recommended Posts

You gimp yourself when you do that.

Not really.  You don't need to carry a ton of stuff and there are enough areas with thick brush or trees that provide camouflage no matter what you are wearing.

That is not true.  It totally depends on who you run into.  Some people are immediately threatened by anyone in camo or masks.

Well im one of the good guys in the game, and camo (TSKO) stuff is all I wear simply because it provides the best protection, so that really sucks.

Im actually so lost, why would I wear anything but camo? Im sticking by my first response, its not gonna matter what you wear, if they KoS, they KoS. It shouldnt matter if you are wearing camo or a blue hoodie.

mate I know loads of people who wear military attire and they are about as far from bandits as you can get.  I think that's really why it's best not to judge a book by its cover.

I used to run in all camo and always get shot at on sight but since changing to civilian clothing it has happened a lot less.  A lot of people I have talked to also mention that they usually shoot anyone in military gear on sight.  It sucks for the good guys who like to rock the camo.

I always go for TTSKO. But he wants to appear friendly.. and friendly characters typically don't wear these.

Well the group I run with loses track of me all the time, even though most of the time I'm 2 feet in front of them laying in the grass... I LOVE BLENDING IN like that, so cool, I will not give up the CAMO! lol... but I guess I can see your point... I always communicate first though, I really hope people are not shooting at me just because I have camo on... I mean id love to find a press vest but the whole BLUE thing throws me right off

I always go for space when i can. You never know when you  might need that extra space for a med supplies, ammo or extra attachment slot.

The only way that will end is when zombie numbers increase because ppl will be to afraid to attract multiple zombies in heavily traffic zones.

True the homie, true that.

But cant we all at least agree that, a KoSer is going to KoS? Regardless of what your wearing. I mean I know what some of you are saying, you see camo as a threat.. but you really shouldn't, it provides the most space and most protection right now.

I hate to say this, but most coast humping, military rats have ruined several players experiences, by dressing in camo. Your average player is going to remember being shot on sight when they first started, by gi joe, more then an average joe.

We associate military gear with spawn killers. We know they rush to a base, kit out in their barracks wet dream, and head back south to use it.....on everyone they see. Sure a few head north, and survive. Those are the select few you don't see. The rest are in electro, Cherno, in the middle of the streets, wondering where their kill streak reward is.

I live deep north, in unmarked territory. I rarely see other people. If I do, I look at them from iron sights. If I see full camo, squeezing that trigger is all the easier, where as I'd be inclined to let a survivor pass.

....................fifty thousand people used to live here, now it's a ghost town....

How much space do you actually need though? Can opener, few extra rounds, bandages, morphine, food and water. Compass if you get lost easy.

If your carrying saline and blood bags, we know what your intending. Every military rat I've ever shot has always had an absurd amount of ammo.

Just reinforces my opinion that I was right shooting them first.

Fair enough, I carry around a B95 so I dont carry alot of ammo and actually only 1 medpack/defib. I like the space to pack as much food as I can, as a group we go through that shit like nothing lol

Not going to pretend I carry what I do to look like a nice guy. I do tend to stay away from more military gear because I tend to immediately become suspicious of those types of people. I'm a lone wolf that wants to be able to blend in to the environment and put up a fight when I need to. I also carry surplus medical supplies to be able to help a fellow survivor should they need it.

It's fun to try out different clothing, camo is fun and all, but with so many choices why not be a fashion plate?  We could even organize a DayZ fashion show.

Ok than wear a bright hard hat and the brightest set of clothing you can find.

I've done it and people still couldn't see me hiding in the bushes.

I just wear the greenest clothes I can find that aren't TTSKO (because some jack off decided that only bandits wear those) and do my best not to be seen.

You never get forced into a situation where being friendly is necessary if they never see you.

Word of advice when your in Electro and you see a bunch of armed guys fighting zombies DONT freaking run up to them thinking there not going to gun you down if you dont announce yourself! Seriously i gunned a guy down cause he just came up on me lighting fast. I dont trust anyone that runs up on you close without saying anything. Seen to many ppl get taken out by guys with just fist.

Me and 3 of my mates decided to be "humanitarians" a couple of nights ago, ran through Berezino feeding all the new spawns (we were running out of space from all the food anyway so opening cans and handing them out isnt a problem). But as you say one of the guys charged straight at us, lucky after a few "keep your distance or you'll be back at the beach" warnings he backed away and patiently waited for his can of drink and baked beans.

The problem with "feeding the hungry" is that 1 in 10 will still try and knock you out despite the fact that there are a few guns pointed at them.

I'm curious as to if people think motobike helmets are unfriendly. I do enjoy them a lot more with the black visors.

I also kind of feel most people with full camo are just out for target practice, so I'm trying to stick to a more survivor/citizen look.

The improvised courier bag also helps to make me feel safer.

Two guys came at me earlier when I was at NWAF, I'm usually a nice guy, but they follow me from the hangers to the south prison. I was mainly trying to avoid the first guy I saw but he HAD to follow me and when I had him in the open field he was an easy kill with the SKS. I'm assuming the other guy thought he could swoop up, too. But I could tell they were down when I saw their fluorescent hiking backpacks through the grass.
