Broken leg with no morphine

I'm pretty accepting of the jank in DayZ, but the fact that this predicatment exists is pretty ridiculous. I went up a steep stairway and while I was on the second floor all of a sudden my character grunts and drops to the ground. I can no longer move except by crawling. I've been told my leg is broken and that I need morphine. Of course I have no morphine, and now I have no way of searching for any. The 'respawn' button is also grayed out so I can't suicide the character.

 

Am I missing something to help me out of this situation, or am I destined to wander the apocolypse on my ass?

I had this happen to me last night. I have no idea where I can find wooden sticks, or how I can make some, and there was no morphine in sight. So I managed to climb up a ladder (dead serious, I was just as surprised as you are) then rolled off the roof of the building to my death.

I was running through Berenzino or whatever yesterday.  Found a stick in one of the apartment buildings. "lol useless, I'll never need this shit"

 

Then me and my friend go to the top of the school house I think.  I climb up a ladder then I fall off it instantly (like one of those 4-5 ft ladders, if that).  Break my fucking legs.  I crawl off the edge of the building with him cracking up in Skype.  It was horrible.

i always keep atleast one pair of sticks with me after the same thing happend to me at a remote place with no help in sight and i ended up suiciding... funny thing is i havent broken any legs when i have morphine or sticks with me ;)

 

they really have to add the option to "craft" those sticks out of trees in the woods (axe, machete), atleast those fallen down ones... because sticks are quite rare and thats bullshit ;)

I JUST had this happen to me. And wouldn't you know it? My pants, both morphine sticks, and both bandage rolls (all inside the pants) got ruined in the fall.

Oh god yeah, this pissed me off to no end. So until rocket can fix this, IMO, game breaking glitch, keep only non essential items in your pants. Otherwise, be prepared to be pissed off.

I feel ya, I've broken my legs eating. All I can say is in the future always have a splint handy (rags+sticks) since leg breaking is at an all time high from bugs.

Yeah and who knew soda was so bad for your health. I tried to drink a Pipsi on a laggy server, got the receiving message then my legs broke, Fortunately my morphine was in my backpack. Lost some good gear in my pockets, not keeping anything important in my pants anymore.

Well, sadly no TMZ guys were around, but I did end up getting contacted by a member of a group calling themselves the "UN Remnants" while I was there. They brought me to their own server, proceeded to help me out in game, and soon I was back up and running, short a small amount of food and an empty canteen which I traded to the very generous gentlemen for a new morphine stick and 2 full canteens.

 

Very professional and helpful. These guys can be trusted....

Crawl out in the street shouting "kill me kill me" somene might help. OR keep crawling till you find sticks and T-shirt (rags) to craft a splint, to heal your leg, easier to find than morphine. OR contact Trusted Medics of the Wasteland (find them on this DAYZ blog) and they may turn up to help. OR just keep crawling till you starve or the zombies get you, but it's much more likely another player wil waste you first... I dont know if there ARE any zombies. OR get on a roof and jump (you can still climb with a broken leg) OR just glitch out through a wall and drop, that's the easiest suicide. You can't press respawn with a broken leg ATM.

 

What YOU really need is Keyboard Only Sidechannel - this is a need in the game, to contact people, talk before you get shot, call for help, .. all kinds of stuff. Sidechannel worked well in the mod, as long as people didnt voice-talk  on it. Keyboard Only Sidechannel (KOS) will make a big difference, it lets you get to know people gradually, over a few days, you see the same guy on the same server.. after a while you type "hi".. then one day he asks for help, and you already 'know' each other, maybe its worth the risk.. you don't team, but next week he helps you if you need it..  At the moment you either teamspeak with your buddies, or you speak to a stranger face to face and 50/50 you get shot. So there's not a lot of stranger contact in the game unless you play "I'm running around in my underwear".

 

Bring Keyboard Only Sidechannel  to DAyZ StandAlone  (KOS) !!!  Keep crawling bro, if you DO survive you will remember it for years.
