How much Internet does Day Z use per hour

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,
I haven't bought Day Z yet but that's because I'm unsure if I'll be able to play it.
My question is very simple but I just need to know how many Mbs it uses per hour when playing.
Thanks,

Tristan.

It completely depends on your connection to the server, # of players on the server

it depends on data traffic in the game I guess.

You metered? Poor guy. I couldn't tell you exactly. I could measure data rates, but that's not really what you're asking. Judging by the log files I'd estimate 200-400MB range in 100~ hours of play. Your mileage will vary depending on server pop.

While playing with 2 or 3 friends i see about 10-20kb/s up and 20-40kb/s down on my RT-N66U live metering.

hey dear OP, i started wondering this myself too now that you posted it. i could actually measure it for you just out of curiosity. i'll play on some moderately populated server and come back with results after a couple of hours.

so here are my results after 1 hour (was logged in server when started and stopped timer):

DOWNLOAD: 71MB

UPLOAD: 38MB

i played on full server (40/40) and on coast the whole time. it's the total network usage of my system, but since Avira was basicly the only app running on background, it's >99% caused by DayZ.
