Old_Crow_Whiskey 119 Posted February 13, 2014 You probably have a broken arm. Thanks will look into this. I'm not sure how this could happen as I haven't been bitten or shot in a very long time... perfect health.
africanhungergames 192 Posted February 13, 2014 how... there screen is black and probably either respawned or logged out lolI know theres a high chance of getting back up, i no longer log straight away and that is called using common sense something a lot of players cant grasp, not saying you cant in particular. On the subject of guns doing less damage, i have founf they do less damage but they are all still one hit kills if used correctly, my shotgun and my mosin and my sks are all working fine for me so i dont think the changes are that bad tbh. slivniku@gmail.com 93 Posted February 13, 2014 Got shot by a mosin yesterday at about 150m, went unconscious for about 1min, when I got back up was seriously unhealthy and everything in my shirt was ruined. hat and trousers were still ok though; I'm actually thinking that is OK, have started filling my shirt with least useful items that i have (and really hope I can find a protector case to keep in the shirt). rickenbacker 190 Posted February 13, 2014 (edited) Most of the guns in atm are civy street. with exception of m4. Those guns will need to be made a bit weak to suit that role, then you will want to go somewhere for a mill spec weapon. In the mod you could find the enfield aka "the dinner bell" really early in a run but it was so deadly some of my group were using it even though we had tents full of big snipers. That might have been realistic, but maybe not great for gameplay mechanics :) Are you seriously suggesting that the Mosin should be weaker than the M4 because it's a "civilian" weapon? On topic: My can opener saved my life in a fight yesterday! I was hit, but took almost no damage, and killed the guy. Afterwards I found that my can opener was completely ruined... GrappleX 354 Posted February 14, 2014 Took a mosin shot to the chest today. Half blood-ish, and about 1/3 of the stuff in my backpack was ruined. I figure one more would've put me down. Seems alright to me.
spoiLs 3 Posted February 14, 2014 I don't see why everyone has a problem with loot actually stopping bullet damage. In real life If you had a vest on with pockets full of stuff and a bullet hit you there, you can expect whatever that was in your pockets to slow down the bullet at least if not stop it. I was watching a stream, sorry forget who's, but this group shot a guy, one of them was complaining how many times they shot him in the back and while looking through his things, everything inside and including the pack was ruined. Seems like an even trade off, if you want someones gear, shoot them in the head or find a way to interact.
Wightpants 0 Posted February 14, 2014 Are there any plans to enable the use of your backpack as a gun-rest and protection like this?: That would be pretty cool, and would mean I wouldn't have to do this all the time:

I can accept a full backpack stopping bullets to a degree. See the story of the british soldier who threw himself on a grenade, backpack first, and survived. He did have body armor in addition to the backpack, but I can accept it. But the can of beans in your vest pocket should offer about zero protection from a rifle round at close range. In real life, it would probably become shrapnel and make the wounds worse.
Dontstealmycheese 118 Posted February 14, 2014 (edited) It has absolutely nothing to do with the guns... all dynamic damage parameters. Both with limb damage being added and new damage guidelines from your inventory.I've killed around 12 people with 1 shot with every type of main weapon save the m4. I have also been shot various places, and both lived and died. The architecture that is set up at the moment, while may not be 100% the best.. it's pretty fricken sweet. It's a lot more accurate then people are giving it credit for at the moment and that could be where all the negativity is coming from.. It's just you wouldn't expect it to be doing what it is doing. Yes, it needs some tweaking. But, the way its registering where you are getting hit and the skeleton its using to do is pretty money!Edit: The back and front thing I didn't know about..that sucks :/ But, all is well with hope! Easy_Tiger (DayZ) 33 Posted February 14, 2014 Since the patch that changed ballistics, guns are a lot weaker now. It takes 3-4 mosin body shots to kill a geared player, point blank blasts from shotguns don't even knock a guy out, takes a hefty amount of sks shots etc. Most players are knocked out before they are killed now as well, having to empty a number of extra rounds into them just to finish them off. I think the game was a lot more interesting when guns were deadlier, now it feels more like the mod or possibly even weaker, where everyone is a bullet sponge. Anyone else noticing this? Nah its because of the changes in clothing and inventory items absorbing more damage. For example last time i played I was shot twice in the legs by an m4 at < 50m. The pristine TTSko pants and the pristine box of Captn Crunch in them saved my life (pants ended up ruined captn crunch went to badly damaged) :P . I lost hardly any blood and was regen'd within 30mins
