Mosin + Prone position + Bipod deployed + Hold breath -> strong jitter after some recent patch

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

it has been mentioned in some threads already. But as many people didnt understand what the problem was, and started talking about recoil or bullet drop/drift (WHICH ARE NOT THE PROBLEM!) I finally managed to record a video and upload it to youtube which should depict the real problem with aiming with the Mosin since some recent patch.

Before you click the video I have to explain what I did first. It's best to view it in 720 or 1080 ofc.

First I demonstrate that all my attachments and the rifle are in pristine status.

I am only moving the mouse initially to fixate a point after raising the sights first, after that all the movement is engine generated (!!!).

The aiming down the sights sequences are the following:

1) (@0:30) Standing

2) (@1:00) Crouching

3) (@1:25) Proning

4) (@2:00) Proning /w bipod deployed

5) (@2:35) Proning /w bipod deployed & holding breath

(Also, I dont want to talk about if 1), 2) or 3) are realistic sight movements, because any decent hunter doesnt shoot from a not fortified position)

So now by the love of god, and as already described in another thread.

The behaviour of the sights in 4) and 5) is definately exaggerated (if intended) or bugged (if not intended)!

It doesnt even matter if I use a modern or a WWI rifle for that, because everyone who has shot a

sniper rifle or a hunting rifle with a long range scope should know that the crosshair should stay on point

as long as u are in a prone position with a bipod deployed, you dont even need to hold your breath then.

For comparison, this is the correct behaviour of a crosshair when bipodded (watch crosshair jitter without bipod and after that with bipod)

When u have a wooden stick, and hard glue a bipod onto it and mount a long range scope on it with no

room for movement then you can look through the scope while in prone and the crosshair wouldnt move

an inch for the time you concentrate on aiming.

And this behaviour has been changed since a recent patch. PLEASE UNDO / REPAIR / BUGFIX!

I don't know how it happened, but you got a broken arm. Were you shot, or hit by a zombie? Or punched, hit with an axe?

Because My scope was steady as hell until someone shot me with a shotgun. After patching up, my aim was like yours until I morphined.

ok, it seems i had a broken arm... but i dont know FROM WHERE? i know it can have many causes

but i cant remember any zombie encouter or being shot, or whatever...

so please... if u implement broken arms and legs, then make sure to indicate this as a status text...

because having "healthy" standing there did kinda counterindicate my condition...

i was trying so much stuff until i found out that its the broken arm...made me mad... >:( <_<  :emptycan:

You don't need to hold your breath? What? Have you ever fired any kind of firearm before?

buddy... when i have a sniper rifle on the ground, with me on the ground and a bipod to fix it in place... then u dont need to hold your breath to make steady shots...

dont lecture me.

i mean ok... in real life there is much between breathing heavily and holding your breath completely. but next time at the range... try it out... if you have a flat breathing then it shouldnt matter at all with the bipod/prone stance.

@Ovomaltine, thank you so much for this post. I had exactly the same since a few days. I was shot and survied a few days ago. the same day I found my first mosin long-range-scope.

I thought, hell this is hard to aim and tried to train it anyway, did not know about my broken arm, because I was healthy same as you.

Right after reading this topic (laying in bed with my tablet), I need to get up - even it was 3am - and test it .

Really it works: injected morphine and the sway was gone completely. Hell now I can aim much easier. LOL.

@Rocket and his team: pls put an indicator for a broken arm. With broken legs is obvious as you can't walk, but a broken arm is hard to figure out, at least when you have it the first time.

Eat painkillers, try again.

Painkillers are sugar pills they don't have any effect yet

I've run into two bugs where I am prone.

1) If I am wearing a tactical vest, it clips into my vision.

2) Sometimes when I fire, the bullet his right in front of my face.

mind=blown reading this thread and seeing that arms can be broken.

Atleast broken legs are obvious considering you can't walk anymore. Would really like some status text for arms to make it a bit more obvious.

The same thing happened to me - post patch i was getting the jerky crosshairs going on and stopped playing actually because I thought it was a glitch. Someone also suggested that I had a broken arm but I haven't had time to look into it. Keep in mind that I have not taken any damage from a player or zombie for weeks, the only thing that happened is a patch. It seems pretty messed up that there are no pain sounds and you get the "healthy" tag with a broken arm. I'm going to keep that character on ice for a few patch cycles and hope it goes away.

Yeah it would be nice to have an indication your arm was broken ( id call it hurt rather than broken cause you wouldnt do half the things we do with a broken arm lol )..

The clip ground when the barrel is clearly above the ground kinda sucks to  and my personal favorite is the way when you scope in the sight is drawn to the left meaning you have to shoot right of the target to hit it this on a pristine scope lol id be taking it back to the manufacturer lol .

What can one say alpha...

Report on bug tracker or when they already there up vote them so the devs know the scope of the problem (pun intended..)

Incorrect.

Painkillers take about 10 minutes to kick in. Morphine is instant.

This has been tested and confirmed.

ouchie noises would be nice. Also your arm doesn't shake, the gun shakes. Your arm functions normally when not aiming a gun.

This!

Your arm is shaking MUCH more than it should, causing SEVERE unsteady aim.

THAT is your indication.

All this pandering about status effects is complete BS and I wish they would remove it altogether.

They won't. And that's fine. Their choice.

I just hate this entire generation of games where everything needs to have an alarm bell on or else it gets overlooked.

Can confirm, this is how a broken arm looks like. Take some morphine, problem solved.

Actually, you don't hold your breath at all. You squeeze at the end of your exhale.

What? Have you never fired any rifle before?

Here we go with the realism BS again...

I suppose next you're gonna try to convince me that, in order to know if you're hungry or thirsty that you check your pocket contents for a green status bar?

F.O.

Nope id say it more authentic to get an audio que like say in BP eg stomach growls when hungry you start panting and making odd swallowing noises when your thirsty no need for a health bar status at all..

But thanks for the offer mate but i have been playing since may 2012 i am quite happy staying.. Maybe take your own advice???

In real life you have physical indicators.. Like, YOU CAN FEEL THAT YOUR ARM IS FUCKING BROKEN.

In game, I can't feel my characters arm, and without any kind of game feedback telling me something is broken, how am I supposed to know?

Jesus fucking christ, I am glad you're not a game developer, because you know absolutely jack shit about making a good game.
