What happened to the map expansion plan?

Recommended Posts

In the early developement-plans of dayz standalone dean mentioned that he plans to expand the map to the SE by simply adding the tutorial island of arma2 into the chernarus map. Is this feature still planed or got it canceled?

If you are referring to Utes, the island was submerged by the great wave of Hurricane Alpha.

If reports are correct nobody survived the catastrophe, however life continues on the mainland with new towns and  buildings planned along with the colonisation of as yet undiscovered territories.

I assume you mean the island of Utes? I think I remember it being mentioned by Mr Hall at some point early in development but haven't seen the idea put forward since then. I was actually thinking it would add a really nice dimension to the game to have Utes added to the south, only reachable by boat. If I remember correctly there was even an official bohemia map for Arma 2 which had Chernarus and Utes on the one map. But that said there's definitely no point adding it until boats are in the game.

I'd love it if anyone official could confirm whether or not there are plans to put Utes into the Chernarus + map that the standalone uses.
