Delarado 5 Posted February 12, 2014 Did characters get wiped in the update? Mine seems to of... Anyone else had this same problem? Bye bye pristine scoped m4 and everything :( I was playing last night just fine, then I got kicked from a server and every server I logged in after that said that they couldnt contact the central hive and spawned me as a new spawn ( i tried 3). I noticed the dayz forums were just showing an SQL error so I figured they must of been working on something, or something was broken. so i logged out. Today I seem to be a fresh spawn again... byrgesen 1341 Posted February 12, 2014 No character wipe with this hotfix today :)And the maintenance took place, its over now.You might have joined "a bad server" with a faulty connection to the main HIVE mate. But it seems like the forums where attacked by a possible DDOS attack last night, it might have affected the connection to the HIVE aswell, i cant say for sure.Everything is working fine now though, for me at least. I didnt loose my char, but i didnt play last night either.Now i wonder if the forums and the HIVE is hosted at the same location, this could explain your "connection problems" with the HIVE last night. Delarado 5 Posted February 12, 2014 damnit! And I suppose there's no course of action is there on this... Its just start over :( My last five characters have died to a bug. One fell through the floor in a supermarket, another fell through the floor in an airfield prison, another glitched inside a building, this one was just randomly reset and another one fell two feet and broke his legs. Strangely the game waits until I'm fully kitted after about four days and then kills me with a glitch of some kind :( Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I did, it even said when I joined that the server could not connect to the hive; so I left again. It warned that this character may overwrite my own if the connection to the hive is re-established, I couldn't read it all though as it only appeared for 3-4 seconds. It's np. I just think it highlights an issue with instability in the network. They need to implement some kind of logic. I think what happened is i played on servers that had no connection to the hive last. When they regained connection to the hive, they overwrote my last character. There should be some kind of logic around this, it should compare the age of the character or something trying to be saved, with the one in the DB. If the one in the DB is older, it shouldn't save the character. I've lost a week long character to be over written with one with literally less than 10 seconds of play time; because the hive was having problems. I'm not raging, I'm just saying - it highlights something that needs to be changed. How would you feel if you logged into a server that had lost connectivity to the hive, and it instantly wiped all of your gear?
