flyingsauce 13 Posted February 11, 2014 I've learn something from this game... If there is ever an apocalypse, well equiped and stocked people would doubt, ignore, and kill weak and dying person because they are scared. From what i know the community has bandits or heroes. personally i too am scared and doubt a player with a gun would kill me so i kill them instantly without hesitation unless that person has their weapon on their back. and because i want that feel of good pvp as well to claim who is stronger. Some times i lose some times i win. but heres something i dont understand. after i spawn, few minutes after i walk into a city, a guy with an axe puts a dent on my head... -_- i had nothing expect a flashlight aka nothing to loot hope to find a survivor who is friendly
terminal_boy 860 Posted February 11, 2014 Did you run towards the player with the axe without using comms? That will get you killed every time.
iHazBeans 0 Posted February 11, 2014 I've been killed so many times in the last two days, First I was ambushed by 3 people with axes, then I was shot at as I was moving across a field, then chased half way across the map by two dudes shooting M4's at me, but I still my hardest to help people on the game by giving food when I can, I do get the erge to kill people for no reasons sometimes tho and become a bandit myself. CJFlint 357 Posted February 12, 2014 (edited) Guys here's the thing. DayZ 1st off uses the ARMA 2 engine, and ARMA/OFP series is a military simulator. ARMA and OFP are more sims then games in-fact and these engines have been around for over 10 years. Very unforgiving and probably the closest thing any civilian will see to combat. And get a small window into what it might be like. There are some military units around the world that have used OFP or ARMA to test tactics and for training. During the time ARMA/OFP they made it open source. So that's how DayZ MOD and later DayZ SE came about and it has become a phenomenom. ITS NOT MEANT TO BE EASY. Everyone dies in game. The key is to survive as long as you can. If you die try to learn from it and try again. One thing I've been learning with people randomly spawning anywhere when the log in it makes the game even less predictable. You can scan and scan not see any one the out of no were holly crap. That's something I didn't see in Iron Front, OFP, or ARMA. I had a really nasty encounter with someone who just spawned in game last night. As far as people being mean and KOSing, well what the hell do you expect. DayZ by design is meant to be pretty harsh. My best advice would be group up, if your new. helcol 174 Posted February 12, 2014 no. there is like 2% friendly survivors in dayz, the first friendly gave me a gun and ammo, i did not kill them. seriously.more like 40+ percent. There are a surprising amount of friendly players on Dayz, you can be helped by 2 friendly players and then get killed by one A%^ hole!Who are you going to remember? Also there is a forum post testing out how friendly players are. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/167477-i-conduct-social-experiements-on-dayz-players/ the results are surprising! CJFlint 357 Posted February 12, 2014 (edited) I have played ARMA and OFP moded and unmoded for quite along time, DayZ in many respects is different I'm finding out quickly. There's no clear sides and players can log in and out of the world and pick up were they left off. This created a whole new aspect to the tactics of dayz, I'm not sure if it was the developers intent or not but it does. Even if your super stealthy using cover ect, you can still be complelty caught off guard by a freshly logged in player. Currently the only way of knowing if someone new is on the server is by pressing P. Not only do you have to pay attention to the world around you, you also have to know when people are coming and going off the server. So now with my visual scans, I also press p to see if any one new is on as much as I scan. As far as me encountering players in game its KOS if their are armed and there is no response via prox period. Also if players have a weapon in hand I tend to shot 1st ask questions latter policy if I'm by my self, or I flee. Even if they say their friendly it takes more then that to earn my trust in the world of DayZ. Normally I let them pass and keep a close eye one them then leave the area. I have been set up before so I have a vary hard time trusting anyone I'm not on TS with. I don't see this banditry changing either it is developer intent I believe its like that. Its meant to be a crappy hellish world. So it is probably better to learn to deal with it. As far as % of friendly players go, I'm not really sure. I think it depends on the server an who is playing. Its more then 2%, I'm sure. Some severs have a Team Speak. Try down loading team speak and talk to people, you can meet people easier that way, and maybe get a free pass were would not without. mareak 50 Posted February 13, 2014 Try to move inland as fast as you can. If you new to this game, try to have chenarus map open in your tablet or ipad there is a website out there that provide such info. When you in the coast town and the server has plenty of players, use cover and head out of the town by following the main road. At the end of each town, you should be able to find the town name. Cross check that name with the map and get your bearing and then head inland. This game is like that it is kill or be killed. I too died plenty of times while only manage to kill 2 so far. Good luck man.

IronCross 78 Posted February 13, 2014 In an apocalypse, those who have will be set upon by those who do not. That is why 'preppers' exist. Especially in America, where we have grown so accustomed to a life of ease and basic standard of life being high. A small fraction of America would make it through a real hardship of even Great Depression level. So, this game has that dynamic down.
Symbiont (DayZ) 4 Posted February 13, 2014 I got killed for a torch and a rotten kiwi :( It wasn't for what you had. It was because there is NOTHING to do in this game "yet" but get a gun, get food...shoot people.
flyingsauce 13 Posted February 14, 2014 It wasn't for what you had. It was because there is NOTHING to do in this game "yet" but get a gun, get food...shoot people.i totally agree... sadly... i do that too BUT on people who have weapons. if the naked people try to hurt me by punching or hit me with a bat, i just cripple them to let them feel the pain of wanting to suicide. >:D
MrBecause 11 Posted February 14, 2014 People killing newspawns are pathetic. But actually, it's a lot better than what most people tell you. There are a lot of awesome, friendly players out there, but their reaction greatly depends on your apearance. I usually avoid, or occasionally KOS players in full military clothing, because the reason they wear camouflage is usually that they want to sneak up on other players, which I have seen countles times. I would NEVER KOS a player in normal clothes, even if he had a gun (unless he starts shooting, of course) and from my experience, people are usually really friendly if you don't raise your gun and slowly approach them, telling them you're friendly. Now there are a lot of exceptions, but it appears that more than 50% of the players approached this way act friendly.
Corto 34 Posted February 14, 2014 We can't get along and be respectful while sharing thoughts on a forum (where we are all equals and there's no need to be rude or "hardcore") and you expect people to get along in a game where killing you and taking all your gear is an integral part of the gameplay? On one hand let me tell you that I wish the same as you, on the other let me tell you that you leave a dream.

On one hand let me tell you that I wish the same as you, on the other let me tell you that you leave a dream.yes yes taking all my gears is okay since i want to feel the suspense of challenge against another player. i like it when i kill people who have ammos and guns too. but it's just ridiculous how some people spawn kills you for fun? well not really spawn killing but like after you spawn few minute later a guy come at you and shoots you.i had one experience where i was naked and somebody who had an SKS started following me for no reason. i waved said something in chat, no response so i took off. later on he shot me in the legs in great distance(i think it was a magnum sound though) then i fell to the grounds. made me crawl, came over to me and did a killing blow. just weird how sadistic some people can be -_-
Corto 34 Posted February 14, 2014 Internet if the perfect place for those who like to test other's limit without risking losing all their teeth in the process. I love it when I get trolled or insulted over a forum, then I show up in a forum meeting and all those who seemed rather tough now seem really friendly. It's just how internet is. It gives the chance to everyone to be badasses
