Foolz 18 Posted February 11, 2014 Hey All, background to the reason I ask this question. Last night, I headed to NE airbase. I first wanted to do a sweep on the sniper hill area. While I was there (and a little lost) I saw I guy running towards me. We saw each other, backed off and started to talk. then I saw a second guy trying to circle arround me. I noted I saw there was 2+. Then from behind me another 2-3 people pop up. I explained I was going to NE airbase and first was checking on Snipers. They greeted me, noted they had seen a scope in nearby village for my mosin and wished me well on my way. I left (running to get out of line of sight - half expecting to get a bullet in the back). But nothing, everything was good. this group was very well geared up. So - What is their agenda I thought? They could easily have abused/killed me etc. but I was not a threat, nor an interest. What Do these types of organized squads actually do ? Hunting other squads ? clearing out villages and looting ? Interesting encounter, but a tad confused at the same time. Element47 2480 Posted February 11, 2014 just because they're an organized group does not mean they have a certain common goal. they are as diverse as solo players, from ruthlessly murdering everyone they meet over helping/escorting/guarding undergeared players to ruthlessly healing on sight every wounded man, woman and goat they encounter
MrBecause 11 Posted February 11, 2014 A well organized group means safety. Since a single player usually doesn't pose a significant threat, you can interact more friendly and openly with them. Some use the power of their group to merely kill others, but this just makes two goups meeting more intense.

These guys usually ask you to surrender, surround you to make sure if you do try to shoot they can drop you easilly with no losses, then proceed to ask a few questions like if you have seen any bandits. From here they usually send you on your way with possibly more stuff to leave with than when you started the encounter. These are the rarest kind of groups, sounds like you got lucky, their MO is usually to do that with any player they meet and gun down anyone they see attacking newbies or tie up suspect bandits. drsheepbringer 10 Posted February 11, 2014 Why should they have killed you? Many of them are KOS hunters, but they still need stuff too. Safety in numbers.

They were likely of the mindset that you had nothing that they needed and saw no harm in letting you go on your way... I had a similar experience back when the Alpha first launched. A guy at Balotta with an M4 came across me in the prison, carrying nothing but an axe if I remember right. I spotted him first and told him that my axe was on my shoulder and that I was no threat. He told me that there was no bother because he had no ammo anyway.Seeing as I had no gun to use it with and considering I don't kill people for their hard earned gear when I could just find it myself (it's part of the enjoyment I get from playing), I told him about a magazine I'd spotted in one of the hangars. He was grateful enough to lead me to a slightly damaged M4 that he'd seen in one of the barracks before going for the mag. We ended up banding together for safety's sake until we reached Cherno, where he bade me fairwell and headed north, while I went into town to find some more gear. That/My character is still alive now, and I still have that same M4 that he took me to, albeit with Pristine parts and a scope that I've found along the way. I guess the moral of the story is that there are just some genuinely helpful and friendly people out there that, should a zombie apocalypse happen, will only take what they need to survive. spartanxapathy 203 Posted February 11, 2014 They were likely of the mindset that you had nothing that they needed and saw no harm in letting you go on your way... Pretty much. That's generally how my group operates as well. Depending on the person we run into we may give him food/water, tell him where stuff is, or we may take everything and send them on their way. Sometimes we shoot, just not usually unprovoked in some way.

worst2first 71 Posted February 11, 2014 They may have been on their way to meet up with a friend, hunting bandits, looting or just scouting the area.
woodypeace@hotmail.com 14 Posted February 12, 2014 What Do these types of organized squads actually do ? Hunting other squads ? clearing out villages and looting ? My group of 3-6 run a road block between Elektro & Kamy. As kiwis we all wear the NZDF beret and discourage players from entering Elektro or sneaking around the hills. There's to much KoS and banditry going on we tell them and best to move up the coast to Berezino. It seems though some people are willing to risk their life to get into Elektro. The new ability of making notes though is helping.
