sooo.. how come rain gives me more fps?

i mean  i expect to get less fps while raining

 

but i get 2 or 3 more average fps when raining

 

what is going on

It entirely possible if the engine cuts off some dynamic lighting during rain effect, which I think it may be doing.

probably because the rain creates a fog that limits your view distance lower than it's video setting would be my guess.

These new rain drops are better known as, the Optimized Wetness.  They seem to run rampant through early alpha builds like DayZ.  Find that rain ingame and you will be rewarded with the better fps.  Don't find it.. well.  You get the picture.
