Blood should leave trails that you can use to track down the wounded (bloody foot steps, hand prints on ladders/door knobs, etc) Getting sick should also leave it's mark.

Edit: I thought the idea wouldn't need that much elaboration but to put it simply, if you can see blood pouring from your wounds, it should leave evidence of some kind until you fix your wound.

How much blood do you thinking someone loses when they get shot or otherwise wounded? Aside from a bit of splatter wherever the incident took place there would likely not be much blood on the ground, expecially if the wound was bandaged.

Bandaging would stop it. No bandage means blood trail. I don't know about all that, but I see spewing blood coming from my wounds when I get shot. If you are spewing blood, and in Day Z you spew a lot of blood, it should leave a trail. From the devs perspective it seems like we have quite a lot of blood to lose. 5000 blood to be exact. It doesn't have to be a blood bath, it could just be a few drops here or there. Your problem with it is realism? Kind of nit picky don't you think? It could be implemented in a realistic way.

You would need to be damn observant to follow a blood trail usually impact area has noticable blood after that it may be a tiny drop here and there ( yes i know the game has visual blood pouring by the gallon you would bleed out in seconds with that much blood gushing eg not sure even a main artery hit would produce such a fountain ).

Id vote for a more realistic blood effect ( which is probably happening) before blood trails which be nice if they are there but like i say a drop here and there not much more....

I say yes but to an extent. Not like get shot and full on blood red line to follow the person but like if your injured enough you will leave spots on ground and or stuff you touch. Just not an extreme amount. And maybe not do it for the fact of tracking someone but because its realistic. You get wounded you bleed. Sure you could look carefully around and possibly track someone by it but don't over do it and put it in game for purpose of tracking.

Ha great minds think alike, We must of been typing same idea at same time.

5000 blood yeah true but that would be say 5000 mils of blood humans have around 5.5 ltires of blood on average size male which dayz avatars are.. Obviously bigger people have more blood smaller less etc..

It should be enough to track if you want to, but not enough that it's begging you to do so. Certain woulds could cause more noticeable bleeding. Multiple machete injuries should bleed profusely, a punch maybe not at all. You guys are taking this realism thing to a bit of an extreme though I think. Or maybe the word "trail" evokes the idea of a body sized line left behind in a players wake. Next time I post, I won't be lazy and leave the details out.

The spewing blood is 1) a placeholder and 2) so that you are in no doubt that your character is bleeding. The game isn't actually suggesting that that amount of blood is leaving your character's body.

DayZ is supposed to be a survival sim, I don't think supporting realism/authenticity is nit picky in all honesty.

no i can go with blood trials though they would just need to be small as pointed out we dont have all that much blood in us.

A drop every 5 m would make it hard but possible to track and would require your attention on the ground focused to spot so it kinda goes for the risk vs reward idea reward you might track your prey risk your focus iis down so you could be jumped( obviously less risk in a group )

Yes, but you're nit picking to death. With this logic we shouldn't have to eat or drink half as often as we do in game. Realism can only go so far before it just gets in the way of the game. Your point about the amount of blood is clear. The horse is dead; blood splatter, no trails.

Yeah. Subtle indications that something went down in the area around you. I'd like to see blood implemented in a lot of different ways like this. If your standing over a corpse your shoes could track blood for a while, or until you step in water. If you punch a zombie/player to death door knobs/ladders you touch could get blood on them. Used melee weapons could be bloody. Cloths worn when shooting a player close range could have blood on them, unless you manged to find water (what a great way to identify bandits). It would be really scary having someone run up on you with blood all over them, or finding discarded bloody clothing. You could discover someones intentions by paying close enough attention to your environment. Maybe you might notice that there were discarded bloody cloths in the building behind you, and the guy in front of you is wearing fresh cloths that spawn in the same building you found the bloody clothes in. That kind of thing.

I'd like to see permanent footsteps on dirt that disappear on server reset. Including blood trails.

I think this is a thing that only the PC's that can run Dayz in high graphics, can display.

Leaving the slower/weaker machines at another disadvantage.

I just want the blood soda fountain effect to go away. Maybe something like Overgrowth's bleeding model if they want to go all-out.

Such a pointless comment. I run with 60-90 fps.

Dont add stuff that not everyone can enjoy.

I marginally enjoyed his comment.

Blood stains wouldn't necessarily have to be resource heavy. Sure, they could be, if they wanted them to look amaizng. But the blood stains currently on some walls look fine. I'm saying this as a potato user. I run 17 frames in big cities.

ACE mod had a great blood trail system.

Hopefully dayz will too.

Looks like a good amount of blood to me (big splotch for initial injury, smaller one for tracking).
