entspeak 374 Posted February 9, 2014 I love the new gestures and have an idea for another. Many times, when being blinded by the sun, people hold their hands up in order to block the sun from their eyes so that they can see better. It would be awesome if there was a gesture for that in the game.

Otis.Driftwood 204 Posted February 9, 2014 Good idea but it would be better to make sunglasses that actually work for this purpose.

entspeak 374 Posted February 9, 2014 (edited) I think having both would be awesome and having working sunglasses has been mentioned before, I believe. I do think there might be much more involved in getting the sunglasses to work.As a note, you can already block the sun if you raise your axe... The handle covers the middle of your view, though. basinox 300 Posted February 9, 2014 Sounds like a good idea to me. Though I never really have any problems with the sun ingame.

I realise there is a large difference but it means it is most likely "doable" without too much work Dev's? Do all the things please. Rgds LoK
kuma8877 39 Posted February 9, 2014 Would a salute gesture do this by default?
Corto 34 Posted February 9, 2014 Make sunglasses work as sunglasses and the blocking capabilities directly related to their state. Even have baseball caps block some of the sun. In fact, vanity items should have more purpose than just an aesthetic purpose.
entspeak 374 Posted February 10, 2014 Great. Sunglasses. Fantastic. I'd love to have working sunglasses, too. As fantastic as it would be to have them work, this thread isn't about sunglasses. If you search this forum, you will see at least one thread dealing with sunglasses. Which is why I didn't include them in this topic... It's already covered. As for the gesture, I'm suggesting, I'm not sure the salute will work as it brings your hand to close and to high above your eyes. I was thinking of something similar to this:http://sr.photos2.fotosearch.com/bthumb/PHT/PHT174/PAA174000078.jpg
Otis.Driftwood 204 Posted February 10, 2014 but remember that you cant move while performing gestures so far
dvsilverwing 241 Posted February 10, 2014 Sunglasses and tinted Motorcycle Helmet visors should work to block out the sun as well.
entspeak 374 Posted February 10, 2014 I do understand that you can't currently move while performing gestures. Again, I'm not making a suggestion that would be instead of something like working sunglasses or visors or anything like that. I'm simply suggesting a gesture to block out the sun. So, you can crouch in a bush, stand by a tree or simply be in a field and scan the area while blocking out the sun while blocking the sun with your hand. Corto 34 Posted February 10, 2014 (edited) He wants the f gesture, just give him the gesture and don't remind him of the obvious. It's clear that he knows that already, he didn't want something to block the sun's glare but a new gesture. Edited February 10, 2014 by Corto
TEST_SUBJECT_83 465 Posted February 10, 2014 (edited) This, sunglasses that work, and being able to move while gesturing, all NEED to be added at some point, IMO. Edited February 10, 2014 by TEST_SUBJECT_83
- Karma - 75 Posted February 10, 2014 Sunglasses, tinted visor helmets, and gesture - yes please.
Nurrvillian 23 Posted February 10, 2014 I realize that sunglasses have been suggested but that is the easiest and simplest option as a gesture blocking the sun would have to be programmed to move in all different directions depending what time of day or what angle you were facing in relation to the sun it's just too much work to put something that complex into a gesture maybe hey could program it as an automatic animation so when you had your weapon shouldered and nothing in your hands if you turn towards the sun your character would attempt to block the glare but that would still be a really long way down the track

blackberrygoo 1416 Posted February 10, 2014 I love the originality ... But I kind of would rather have sunglasses work and they use this key binding for something like combat hand signals , thinking of how my hand will be placed in front of my face irks me , i can see it now trying to position my body in just the right place so my hand actually blocks the sun haha . It would be a nightmare.

I said sunglasses would be great, but the forum rules clearly state that they don't want duplicate suggestions, so I didn't include sunglasses here for that reason. How you arrived at this somehow meaning that I don't want something that blocks the sun is beyond me.Posted Today, 07:39 AMI love the originality ... It would be a nightmare.Haha... no. The sun is not a small pinprick. Try raising your axe and using it to block the sun... it's quick and pretty intuitive. The second the glare is gone, you have it. You really only need this when you're facing the sun anyway. While, I would love combat gestures for Arma (back when I played America's Army, I used them quite a lot), my thought is that combat hand signals don't really fit into a civilian game like DayZ. I thought about it when the first gestures were introduced. You don't spawn with sunglasses and sunglasses break - so, you won't always have sunglasses. Clearly having something that works without sunglasses would be nice, even if you lose the advantage of being able to walk while blocking the sun. So, yes, there should be both. My personal opinion, since they've got gestures working pretty well, is that this would be easier to accomplish. And when they get sunglasses working, then put those in. dangitman 7 Posted February 10, 2014 Hi.I like the gestures as well. However I see things a bit further down the road. A gesture such as hand raised shows one to be harmless. But if you are being held by a guy with a rifle next to you when your hands are up just add the twisting motion then drop hands fast enough plus the space bar in to defensive mode together with left mouse click and you now hold the other guys rifle. I see hand to hand combat. I think that eventuly the gestures could be worked into something more. Same idea for the wave to take a hand gun, flip them off poke eye, shield eyes for..............um........um........nothing I guess. Just kidding a judo chop to neck... No this dosen't work (at least to my knowlage) But something to think about. How would I like to use this to my advantage? If seen fit there could be a long list of options that one could choose from and form a limited selection for personal use. It could be combined with other concepts both already in the game on the table or just being sugested to make it possibly more realistic or (imo) reasonable to include. Thanks for listening.
