The Map is smaller when compared to Day Z Mod's Chernarus

Has anyone else noticed this yet? Even with faster running, I'm pretty sure they've made Chernarus plus more like Chernarus minus. Yeah, theres more buildings/towns but the map just feels like its a lot smaller. Running from one end of the map to the other takes a lot less time. Theres really no point in vehicles at this point. 

 

Do you think they've just made a smaller version of Chernarus+ during the absence of vehicles?

I think its actually cause you can sprint faster. I don't believe the map is any smaller.

Just because it may feel smaller, doesn't mean it is. I'm pretty sure it's quite a bit bigger with the northern area included.

Your perception of it being smaller and it actually being smaller are two different things. load up the mod, jog from point a to point b. Repeat in SA WITHOUT sprinting. Same distance.

I don't know if it is becouse of sanic speed sprint or that I play on the map very long

 

but the map feels small.

You run faster and you see further. It is because the draw distance. I also noticed that I can see green mountain from very long distances.

I'm pretty sure it's the game speed plus the multitude of more towns added make it seem smaller.  Back in the mod it probably took about 15 mins to run from Kamenka to Komarovo, now it take 5. (approximately)

So, you guys, since it takes a lot less time to get from point A to point B, whats the point of vehicles? In Day Z mod it was necessary since getting around took so long, but now they're not really necessary.

We can use the sun and our shadows to determine the distance between two places on the map. Measure your shadow at...let's say 3PM...whilst in the south western most portion of the map. Then! Go to the furthest point north east and measure your shadow again at 3PM. THEN! ...there is some equation that'll determine the distance between the two points.

 

Then do that again in the mod version.

 

[EDIT: Wait a second...that was what they did to prove the earth was round...I dunno how yo...well it might work...either way, smaller map, bigger map...it's still a fun game. I am indifferent to this]

Its a fact the map is bigger. Player moves faster, but not by much. Side to side of top to bottom is at least 30 RL minutes.

 

If you can give me an accurate time on running 1000 meters I can tell you exactly how faster SA models move.

I think you misunderstood the experiment. The time is just a variable used to determine the distances of both maps. Besides, there is no watch in stand alone.

 

Also, I don't think the game has a strong enough engine to support the distances involved when measuring the size of the sun compared to the earth, and the amount of light one is able to see.

 

ALSO...my first post is just absurd...as is this one.

That's the point.  That is why tehy claim it is smaller.  Game speed has definitely been ramped up.  I liked the original game speed.

I hope infini-sprint gets nerfed at some point, maybe by adding something like stamina. I think the out of breath sound is a hint that this is planned.

I prefer to have it until other means of transportation are close to being implemented, though.
