How do I carry more than 3 weapons at a time?

Recommended Posts

I recently saw a post around here in the forums with someone mentioning that they carried approximately 4 guns in his disposal. How does that happen? I can only carry my Axe, Pistol, and SKS in my inventory. The only way to do it, it seems, is to carry the other weapon with your hands. Is this true?

You can carry as many pistols as you have storage space for but rifles only 2... I have carried a Mosin on my shoulder and M4 in my hands. However you drop the rifle in your hands to do anything like bandage eat/drink, climb ladders etc.

Be warned if you are on a 2nd story or above it may drop through the floors.

I see now... That makes sense. Thank you for the input! What do you suggest I use for holding my current inventory? Just hold both rifles on my back while keeping the axe on my hands? I usually need the axe to knock out any of the surrounding zombies that attempt to chase me.

Can't do that.  You can only hold the 2nd rifle.  If you prefer to run around with an axe as you mention, you would need to drop the 2nd rifle on the ground, take out the axe, use it, put it away, pick up rifle, profit.

I suggest only using one rifle you are comfortable with, running around with a weapon in your hand makes you too slow and most of the time, if not all, you will never use both in a situation.

Damn, that sucks... I wish there was a way to be able to hold the axe so I could have 2 rifles on my back instead. I'd love to have that in the beta/release. I'm hesitant towards constantly picking it up and dropping it during combat because I don't want to accidentally leave it behind.

Really? I don't notice much of a speed reduction on my character.. He seems to be running just fine. Does this happen to you?

You can also make a sawn off shotgun with a hacksaw (& a shotgun obviously!) that only takes 4 horizontal inventory slots. So you could carry an axe, both types of pistol, a sawn off, a rifle on the shoulder & a rifle in the hand. So 5 different guns & your axe theoretically.

Its not a glaring difference, but it is there; you run/jog/sprint faster without holding a weapon.  You'd see the difference more pronounced over distance, much like the slight bonus the hero got in running in the mod.

Generally its not wort the risk. I use a primary and a pistol. If I have an M4 i have never had a reason to switch to the pistol. I use the pistol to clear close quarters if i have a Mosin.

I tryed having a Mosin and an M4 but the hassle of not dropping the one in my hands was never worth it.

I have also never lived long enough to use more than 150 rounds of ammo. There was a post on how much amo/weapons people averaged using before they got killed. Its probably around 20 rounds for the mosin and two 60 round mags for the M4. There are exceptions depending on how you play, but generally more than that is a waste.

You can carry both pistols and the sawed off in the backpack, a rifle on your back and another in your hands. I did that for about 10 minutes once, mostly to take the screenshot.

If you logout with a rifle on your hand and another on your back, they will both be on your back when you log on, allowing you to run a bit faster. But one of them still drops to the ground if you use your hands for anything. Not very practical.

Well i shoot zombies a good 25% of the time with a magnum. What are the numbers for the Magnum cause i'm on about 40 odd rounds being shot in this life (Managed to make my Magnum turn worn without anything decreasing in condition as if i was hit by zeds, besides Headtorch).
