animals

Recommended Posts

This was probably said before, but it doesn't hurt to suggest it again...

It would be nice to see more animals in DayZ. They will fill up the lonesome world of DayZ and provide food and weapons (if you use their bones and pelts). You could also add taiming wild animals for your own defence or use, by feeding them raw meat or some tasty flowers. Taimed animals should be able to defend their owner even after his death. It should take some time to taim animals, like in real life...: You give them some meat, they gain your trust, and if you do it often enough, they rely on you feeding them and may perhaps defend you or let you use them... How else do you people think how wolfs became dogs! If you die, they are should be more easily coaxed by other players: That means the people who were hostile to you have now your dog, horse, boars and/or eagle...

I hope you have my understanding.

Animals already confirmed. Personally I think only one tamed animal is feasible: horses. Good transport, company, and "saddle bags" could be put on er. Violent animals for me are a nah.

If they would make the reganeration better, I would have really nothing against dogs, because wounds inflicted by the dog bites would heal better... By saying that it would have to take some time to gain the trust of the animals I ment it: You have to do more then just throw them one tiny piece of meat in front of them: You are giving them a lot of YOUR food.

Training a wolf is not exactly like training a dog. It's extremly dangerous and probably you will die in a weak moment.

I did not mean to say that you run to a wolf and beg them to help you and probably get torn into pieces, I ment to say, that you make it tactical clever. For an example you can get a wolfs attention by whisteling and try to stay out of sight, get it away from the rest of the wolfs and try to trap him. By feeding him you might get his trust and perhaps you are able to do something with him. As in everything in this game you'll never know what will happen next...

i think taming a dog would be cool, but not wolfs and eagles and stuff

think rocket may of mentioned liking the idea of a dog companion

dont think the ai would be able to distinguish friendly, enemy, and unknown though.  maybe more useful for killing zombies and hunting

but i agree it should require alot of food to tame/maintain the dog

I'm sorry, but I hate this idea. I think it's pretty silly. I do want packs of roaming wolves in the wooded areas away from civilization though. That would be worth it. It's a survival game, not a domestic game.

I want to be able to shoot roaming cattle, chickens and other farm animals though.  I mean once they get camps/encampments working.  Seeing a cow in the fields would be like hitting the jackpot.  Plus, at least a deer, moose or bear needs to be included.

@discipled taimed dogs/wolfs would more or less be like living weapons. Since the pointing animation was recently added you can make them attack whatever you point at. There are grenades and guns in this game, why not something living that might help your needs. Of course it should have its own mind...

@DMentMan have you read what I posted?
