DayZ Alpha - How is it possible?

Recommended Posts

OP doesnt know what an Alpha is.

The one thing I'm very angry about is that they don't just auto-ban people who make these threads. They clutter the forums and add nothing.

I try not to sound like a fan boy because there are a lot of things I do not enjoy about this game, and Bohemia always makes products that my computer can never run well even when it crushes everything else on the market (When BF3 came out I could run it at max at 60 FPS, but ARMA 2 was still giving my system grief). I know people with weaker systems than mine were running it just fine, but I get frustrated when I have to start performing what amounts to 100 hours of voodoo rituals just to get one game running smoothly.

Anyway, back on topic: If you couldn't be bothered to read the GIANT WARNING NOT TO BUY THIS, or you are being a negative downer who acknowledges this is an alpha while also dismissing that fact in the same sentence, you need to be banned.

You're simply making yourself look stupid. "Oh man, I told them to build me a house. They put in the foundation so I moved in and its cold! Where are the wall?! Why does everything get wet when it rains?! This house is a shitty house and will always be a shitty house!"

First it's been only a year since they started the game new, because the game they tried to do before wasn't the game they wanted to give to the world.... second it's is much harder to have an existing engine and trying to get features into it, which normally aren't even possible. if they had started a whole new engine, it might be faster and easier to implement features instead of taking an existing one and trying to fit everything in, balancing, solving performance issues.

I usually don't see any rubberbanding, desync, lag and i even don't see any bugs or glitches most of the time, so i can't really understand what you are talking about. the game is in a great state for the short time it is in alpha state and the features you are missing are most likely to be done soon.

So if you don't want to help developing this great game, please go play rust, which is a shitty game with no compare to dayz.

code doesn't write itself

code is written by humans

humans make mistakes

it takes a lot of humans to even find the majority of mistakes

i go and take a shit because I'm human

So how is it possible that after working for almost two years on a server architecture of the game there is still no possibility to spawn loot/zombies in real time with a good performance? After it came out i thought "Okey its just a beginning, they want to test if it work correct etc.", but after 2 months after launch  there's still no sight of this? How is it possible? How is it possible that game about Zombies and Scavenging don't have those things implemented even in the most basic form? I KNOW THIS IS ALPHA, but alpha is supposed to have working/almost working basic mechanics and these are NULL done. Why after so "much" much work put in this, we get rubberbandings(is it correct writing?)/desyncs often as hell/laggy items. I won't continue with shitty movement, shitty controls, glitchy buildings, glitchy ladders, glitchy jumping, glitchy collisions, shitty zombies etc. BUT AT LEAST WE CAN PAINT OUR MOSIN BLACK, GREAT. I just would like to know if and when this things will be solved.

How is it possible that Rust is much more polished although it was developed from the scratches when DayZ had a solid foundation under it, and big company behind it.

If you want to write only "ITS ONLY ALFA DUDE, STFU" then please don't

Don't ask us to not to tell you its an alpha until you know what an alpha is...

A GAME is a fully furnished house, decorated and filled with everything that you need. It is ready to be lived in.

A BETA is an empty house, or one with only the essentials, a bed, a toilet etc. It could be lived in, but it wouldn't be comfortable until more things are touched up.

AN ALPHA is the process starting at a blueprint and continuing on through the construction phase up until one could call it a building, until the major things like walls, a roof, internl plumbing and electrical wiring, etc are added, you cannot even tell what it is going to be until its near the end when you can see that there is a house in the making.

The problem you are having, as well as many others who bought the Alpha is that you expected a house you could live in. You bought it fully thinking it would at least suit your needs, but until it hits it's beta stage, it just can't do that. Until the beta, it will not be what you want it to be. You are right to want to seek out something else for the time being, but are very wrong to think that it will never be what you wanted it to be.

People just need to realize how HUGE of a difference there is between an ALPHA and a BETA compared to a BETA and a full release GAME.

And he is not even right, its a modified Take on Helicopters Engine which itself is a modified ArmA2:OA Engine. Nothing "rebuilt".

I think the OP should go start up his own indie games company and create a game of the same magnitude to that of DayZ. Then he can come back and post such threads as this, crying about how an alpha, that has quite clearly stated upon purchase to "not to buy the game as its not going to be what you hoped for", hasn't reached his expectations.

As hard as it may seem to believe, game developers aren't a bunch of magic wizards or gods, who create shit immediately out of thin air. It takes time.....a lot more time than you think.

Man you really think that only one that have their own games company can criticize other developers? I wont really comment that.

I've bought the game and I have right to write my opinion on this forum as anybody else so STFU. I'm not happy because of the way this project is heading and I CAN write this. I'm not insulting anyone I just wanted to tell what piss me off, and to get some answers.

An alpha is the state when you have almost finished solid foundation and you can start slowly and carrefully rise the rest. Current foundation is shaky ass hell and yet they are adding tons of shit that only make new problems that they have to solve rather than focus on primary targets.

Is there like some evil machine out there cranking out idiots whose sole purpose in this world is to post over-discussed and retarded threads in General Discussion?

Please tell me where it is so I can destroy it

Nope. I came to the conclusion it's Sergey with multiple accounts. But you have to feel pity for him, he hasn't much to do and is so envious...

Aaaand nominated for the category "Best unintended self-mocking post":

I've bought the game and I have right to write my opinion on this forum as anybody else so STFU

Kazcor, again reread my post... do it 100 times if you have to, but this is an EARLY ACCESS alpha. The kinda of thing you expect is what it will look like 6 months from now. don't bash it until you've given it a fair chance.
