hawke84 7 Posted February 3, 2014 (edited) whether you do the shooting or are getting shot at- you need to move.not moving usually leads to your death. theres no reason to camp if someone knows where you are.Yeah true it was a toss up between legging it and fighting it out. WrecklessMEDIC 129 Posted February 4, 2014 Implement a queue system for servers and have your character bound to the server (perhaps only do this if and when they reach the goal of 150ppl servers). Ghosting & loothopping solved. Increase the 30 sec. logout timer to maybe 2 minutes with the option to watch and cancel and combat logging is a thing of the past too. Don't give me the 'nowhere is safe in chernarus' argument, I've hidden a bus in the mod that was still there the next day and yes that was a pretty populated server.I'm all for characters bound to a server and login queues but they can't even consider that until they have MUCH bigger server capacity.Even 150 players doesn't sound like enough for a server if you're waiting in queue for 3 hours to play your favorite character with friends. Also why did you insist on staying at the airfield after getting shot for the second time? :rolleyes: Either way, with Wednesday patch this problem will be pretty much eliminated.His balls are too heavy to lug around so he couldn't leave the airfield. hellcat420 212 Posted February 4, 2014 (edited) So after getting killed a few times i managed to get a mosin and make my way to balota airbase, im hugging the side and see someone, ask if they are friendly which is met with fire so i return fire with my new mosin get a leg hit in. The guy then runs to the middle of a field, looks at me and logs off - in the middle of nowhere, no cover etc! ok random, so i take cover near a building wall watching where i saw him log out figuring he is trying to get the best of me, few mins past and nothing then a shot hit the wall right by my head from the forest behind me... crap he must have had a friend!! i run and take new cover, new mosin with no scope so i crawl my way to the airtower and watch over the field from cover... 5 mins and nothing, i know hes there. few more mins and its the guy who combat logged!! he server hopped to flank me and rejoined to take me out!! seriously!!! how do you play against people like that? i know that the new patch will help but that went on for 10 mins and a 30 second timer wont help poor play like that :( Really cant believe people play like that! Has anyone else had this? people who ghost are horrible at this game and not smart enough to make up for their dayz shortcommings, so they cheat. Fear The Amish 40 Posted February 4, 2014 I guess this helps drive the point home that other than a fire fight and possible death the risk vs reward is still rather low.yeah there are the 2 bases on the West side of map, and the buildings in Zelena. I rarely go to Balota or NWAF because of those. This is why I think that server hopping should as well on top of the concept being implemented, put you in a random spot anywhere on the map if you change servers... Do it too many times, you become a fresh spawn.Of all the "ideas" suggested to combat server hopping and combat logging / ghosting... This is by far the worst. Random spot on the map? IMMERSION............................. No. Awful idea, sorry. I'm pretty sure you made a thread about this and I think I posted the same reply there. Bad. Idea. ninjaontour 123 Posted February 4, 2014 I'm guessing that none of you chaps have been playing the "Experimental" servers over the last few days or so. OP - Whenever you logout now, your character will sit down and remain in the game for 30 seconds. If you try to reconnect to the server, you are hit with a 5 minute timer that reads "Respawning in..." What this means for the situation described in the OP is that when your combat logger lay down to log out, he'd have taken a seated position for 30 seconds, and you could have scalped him with your shiny new Mosin. If you missed your 30 second window to make the kill, you now have 5 minutes in which to vacate the area, or assume a different vantage point to watch him log back in, then collect your scalp. I've not been keeping up to date with when this is going into the stable build servers, but from the other posts in this thread it seems to be Wednesday, so you haven't got long to wait before this hopefully won't be an issue any more. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
