Uutgrunnen 96 Posted February 3, 2014 How is it possible that there is fresh fruit to loot? It should be quite some while since the outbreak and fresh fruit should not be laying in houses anymore, only rotten fruit. Only consumable fruit that should be in the game is canned fruit. So please replace fresh fruit with canned fruit. Probably mentioned before, in that case sorry. I know that there are a lot of other things that have priority to be fixed but I hope they will adjust this in the long run.

Etherious 907 Posted February 3, 2014 I would "assume" they're placeholders. Considering the fact that fresh fruit randomly in residential areas. LOL Unless there possessed or made from some magical stuff. o.O

OrLoK 16186 Posted February 3, 2014 Hello there We all know there's previously at least one brand of tinned Mixed fruit available in Chernarus. Wasnt very popular though... Rgds LoK

cywehner1234 582 Posted February 3, 2014 I wouldn't doubt that they'll start putting the fruit in the trees. Would make sense. Just not be massively common and we're good! :P
Hethwill_Khan 233 Posted February 3, 2014 Fruit Santa does a 1 minute trip on all orchards to collect fruit and deliver it fresh to the survivors that behave good. True, no banana trees so far, so Bananas are suspicios. Oranges and apples are fine.
crazykage 1063 Posted February 3, 2014 Actually, I don't think the outbreak happened that long ago. Some of the street lights still work, which means electricity still flows. Most modern power plants are able to run automated without human intervention for some time, ESPECIALLY hydro electric ones (it is claimed by engineers that hoover dam could continue to function for a few months or more without any human input). Add to that the sheer PROLIFERENT presence of guns and ammunition, my assumption is that everyone went to bed one night, died in their sleep, and woke up as zombies. Otherwise, why would there not have been mass panic and looting right from the beginning? realistically, after such an event, there would be next to NOTHING to find in heavily populated areas. zhrike 264 Posted February 3, 2014 I wouldn't doubt that they'll start putting the fruit in the trees. Would make sense. Just not be massively common and we're good! :P I hope so. Those orchards ought to be producing something. Just imagine: Orchards, the new PVP hotspot. Yeah, okay, that's not gonna happen. But yeah, trees with fruit. It would also be awesome if some of the little house gardens produced some wild tomatoes, beans, etc., once in a while. And those pumpkins. Why can't we eat em? Combine (DayZ) 247 Posted February 3, 2014 Yeah, well, the realism argument often goes down in favor of gameplay. Or a lot would be different.
Hethwill_Khan 233 Posted February 3, 2014 Pumpkins or burlap sacks... take your pick.
Kestrol 7 Posted February 3, 2014 This is also questionable in Skyrim, delve down to a sunken ship > search barrel > fresh apples > wow.
BadAsh (DayZ) 1513 Posted February 3, 2014 Bananas are usually picked when green and shipped to their destinations, where they are placed in ethylen gas ripening rooms, speeding the ripening process. Cargoes of green bananas on ships or in warehouses could easily have been found and spread all over Chernarus. Same applies to a certain degree with oranges. Apples already grow on trees in Chernarus. Kiwis are a bit more problematic. The presence of those in a fresh state suggests that the apocalypse couldn't have occurred more than a couple of weeks ago max.
zhrike 264 Posted February 3, 2014 Yeah, well, the realism argument often goes down in favor of gameplay. Or a lot would be different. Nonsense. Clearly we all wear the same size shoes, shirts, pants, and are all champion marathoners who can also sprint as fast as a horse, and broken bones are healed with a shot of morphine.
Statik (DayZ) 2695 Posted February 3, 2014 Does this all take place after the outbreak?Food can stay edible (a.k.a fresh) for quite some time.
deebz1234 243 Posted February 3, 2014 i think the devs should stop everything and address this pressing issue.

This has been occasionally discussed. So no problem with the fruits... Hence nothing to fix. Except, maybe that the world should be slightly fresher in general. ZedsDeadBaby 2287 Posted February 3, 2014 How is it possible that there is fresh fruit to loot? Then they go die. How is it possible there's anything to loot? If you want to get all pants-twistingly realistic with loot, then we're going to be left with literally nothing at all anywhere. It would all be gone by now but boards and rusty nails.
Admiral_69 78 Posted February 3, 2014 What I don't understand is if the zompocalype just happened, why are all the shelves bare. How many people have a single half finished waterbottle in their house, and a single box of cereal?
TwinSpire 49 Posted February 3, 2014 It's a game... does it really matter anyways? If it wasn't fresh fruit it would be a can of beans... No point to fresh fruit anyways... I never pick them up or eat them unless it is my first 30min on the character... they aren't that nutritious (energy) and could be poisoned w/ disinfectant. Element47 2481 Posted February 3, 2014 my impression of the game is at least several months after the end of the apocalypse, possibly years - after the point where the society completely broke down. car wrecks are rusty and deteriorated, but buildings and streets are not yet completely overgrown, most buildings seem still safe from collapse. If you compare it to Pripyat, 25 years after the exodus, it doesnt look very different from elektro or cherno.. maybe ith more debris
