More Punishments for low Quality Items

Recommended Posts

Just a note, I did use the search feature before this topic, but I did not find anything like it. If this has already suggested, my bad, but this is mainly an opinion-based thread on what should happen to your items if they have a low quality.)
I know that the quality of an item will have more effects in the future, but I've thought over a few negative effects of having bad-quality items, such as a ruined M4A1 or Mosin.

Weaponry; (Weapons won't have any major negative effects if they aren't pristine besides a slight warp in accuracy, but that changes once they become damaged or lower)

Damaged: Warp in accuracy, increase in recoil, recoil could start bouncing to the left or right.

Badly Damaged: Fairly obvious warp in accuracy, bullets could missfeed, or the gun could lock up (Causing a slight chance of misfiring, delayed firing times or increased bullet drop, both vertical and horizontal), and unusual recoil patterns

Ruined: Powerful accuracy warps, the gun could go off early, or misfire, the trigger system could break (Causing the gun to become useless until you can find replacement tools. I think a "Gun Repair Kit" would fit perfectly for damaged parts of a gun due to ruined status), the magazines could misload, as well.

Clothing/Backpacks; (At levels like worn, backpacks would make slightly more noise while you move, and clothing articles could lose camo efficiency, or start greying out etc)
Worn: Slight grey patches in clothing, which could diminish camo aspects, or make your sexy red T-Shirt slightly less sexy

Damaged: Clothing could lose 1-2 slots of pocket inventory, and parts could sustain holes in them, damaging the camo aspect. Backpacks could lose a few slots of inventory space, and they could bounce around more when moving (If that would be possible. It's only my opinion. It wouldn't be worth it if it caused lag, or glitches etc).

Badly Damaged: Clothing could have sizable holes and tears in it, severely diminishing the camo capabilities of clothing, or making you look like a wookie. Backpacks could lose about 5-10 inventory spaces, and have a VERY small chance of dropping a small item such as a stick, or a can of tuna, or a bit of spare ammo for a Mosin rifle.

Ruined: Clothing has large, very noticeable holes and tears in it, and backpacks could lose about 15 slots of space. This could be patched up with something like a Sewing kit. There could be an invisible "experience" factor in Sewing too.
If you've never patched anything up, but try to fix a ruined TtSkO jacket, you might have a chance to screw it up entirely, or only repair it a little. But, if you've fixed up a bunch of backpacks, you would have a decent chance of fixing it perfectly.
But, you'd have no way to tell your experience in it, as that might break immersion.

Food Items; This one is fairly obvious. The lower the condition, the higher the chance of dropping some of the food if you break it without a can opener, or the food could simply drop out of the can at lower ratings. Also, the lower the rating, the higher chance of it rotting.
Remember, this is just my opinion on how item degrading should work. This is subject to change, and may not be 100% accurate for the game.
Thanks for understanding.

first: add some paragraphs please ;)

second: i like those ideas!

Some glitch prevents me from paragraphing. If I go out of "special BBcode" mode, it won't type. I'll try, though

And, thanks. c:

Albeit a little hard to read, op has some good points. Burlap sacks could be used, rags could also be used to bring a piece of clothing from ruined to at least badly damaged. ( closed holes and get 1-2 slots back ).

This could work for ruined backpacks too. I think op mentioned that ruined backpacks should loose small items. ( say some loose bullets or sardines )

Overall, beans.

If anyone knows how to fix the paragraphing glitch, could they tell me? I can't type when I'm out of special BBcode mode, but if I press "TAB", it won't paragraph. It just selects the "post" button. I did try to paragraph it to the best of my abilities, but with that glitch, it's almost impossible for me to do anything other than type. I can understand if it's hard to read.

Aquatic, if it's giving you that much trouble try first logging out from your account and back in - that's how my issue of not being able to quote finally fixed itself.  If that doesn't work, just type it up in Word or Notepad or something and then copy+paste.

General idea seems good, and it definitely sounds as if they are working on this exact thing - it may be a "down the road" feature however.  I've heard Rocket as having both said he'd like to see items fall out of damaged backpacks because of holes as well as it being chancy to eat lower quality food because it may make you sick.  Sorry, don't feel like finding the exact quotes but they're around.

Well, I tried logging out and back in, but still, nothing. At least I can type normally without BBcode now.

I think it's something with my computer dying. It's been screwed up lately. Can't look at anything that's dark or my monitor blackscreens, randomly crashing on youtube videos, errors etc. I'll try downloading word and fixing this. Thanks for your help

I suck at making posts. I derailed this thread harder than a metro during a tornado.

Lol Aquatic - as long as it's working I guess.  There is a BB Mode toggle in the upper corner of the post area, but I assume you'd turned that off.  Just double checking, sometimes it's the little things we miss :)

Back on topic, yes very good ideas.

I really like this for the weapons aspect , just imagine the gun you neglected to upkeep , jamming on you right as youre about to cap someone from behind. They hear Your assassination attempt and turn around and then a bad ass knife fight ensues hahah
