omgitzgnar 7 Posted January 29, 2014 (edited) So when the Alpha was first launched, i was able to play in 16:9 with 30-55 FPS, after the last two updates, it seems to have gone downhill, fast. My buddy and I basically have the same system, 6-core AMD processor, @2.0Ghz, 8 gigs of RAM. the only difference is he's using Integrated Graphics, (I know, right?) a few models older than mine, in the 5xxx series, and i'm using a Radeon HD 6670 with 1024mb Vram. I (on lowest settings and CFG tweaks) get 14 FPS in 1080p, he gets basically 25-35. I can go down to 1280x720 and get 50-60 in fields, but 17-25 (11-17 while recording) in towns, with everything low. CPU monitors are only saying dayz is using 4-6% of my CPU, and ~48% of my GPU. Now i've been hearing lately that this game only utilizes 4 (cpu) cores, but even with around 6% of my CPU being used it's not really adding up. I do understand that this is in Alpha, and it's in the process of being optimized, I'm mainly wondering, short of getting a new GPU, is there anything that i can do to get more performance out of my machine? I've tried various tweaks, these past few days, Command line params, CFG file adjustments, OC'd my GPU, Unparked CPU cores (which helped a bit) nothing is making a difference of more than 2 fps, give or take. :( Edited January 29, 2014 by OMGItzGnaR
byrgesen 1341 Posted January 29, 2014 Best advise you can get atm is properly:Wait :)Devs have said, no effort has gone into client optimization yet, so it is most likely not your system mate.We just have to wait for them to start that process, which nobody knows when is :)
creature 1189 Posted January 29, 2014 (edited) See above post and keep in mind that it's likely to get worse before it gets any better. Edit to add: A new GPU would only net you better graphics @ basically the same FPS. Edited January 29, 2014 by creature
omgitzgnar 7 Posted January 30, 2014 (edited) That's what i figured, thx for the reply guys! BTW, for the record, i Lowered my Video memory to 256, and i got about 15 extra FPS. 0.o did some more tweaking with options that shouldn't make sense, and it's running not too bad right now. Thanks guys! Also found that with the lower memory selected, 1360x768 gained almost 10fps, compared to 1280x720. makes ZERO sense. Not complaining though :P Edited January 30, 2014 by OMGItzGnaR

instynct 99 Posted January 31, 2014 Don't even expect it to get any better, in fact expect worse when they add more. If we've learned anything from Arma 3 and the other arma games is exactly this. The engine suffers performance limitations that would require a massive amount of work and highly unlikely it will be fixed.
