A Zombie Type That Could Shoot?

I just watched a clip from the movie Day of The Dead were a zombie named Bub was able to understand how to use a gun. He had a military background

before being turned into a zombie. What do you guys think about having a type of military zombie in the game that could use a weapon?

I'm not talking about very accurate shooting here, but the risk of you getting you head blown off by a zombie who managed to pull the trigger

just as you run past it. These zombies could be put around military structures, which would most likely be were they would move around.

I think I'd have myself some good laughs if i got shot by a zombie who was "playing" with a gun and it accidentally went off:)

It'd be nice if Military zombies dropped things like weapons, but them using one?

 

These Infected individuals have lost all sense of practical intelligence, to the point they run through walls just to get to 'food', so the possibility of a Bub zombie would be slim to none practically

Operating firearms requires certain physical and mental skills, which infected individuals lack mostly now. They would, if there was a gun on them anyway, probably not pay much attention to it. It would be on a sling and hang around, and they would eventually just drop things in their hands.

 

Addition: Rocket ruled out special infected. That's what I heard multiple times. So I think we won't see any of that. No "gun zombies" either.

Nope, their course motor control is poor, their fine motor control is gone and their hand/eye co-ordination is patchy at best.

Ahh, did not know about the special infected thing. I guess the fine motor skills would depend on what type of zombie that was implemented into the game.

Bub only learned to shoot anyway because they were training him for months as an experiment as to weather zombies could be taught to do menial tasks. Fuck, Moses only learned to shoot after a decade or so of watching his zombie friends get shot in the face and pulling the trigger on accident once. And that was only because after years of idling in towns, zombies started to go back to doing things that were muscle memory for them, which is why he spent the beginning of the movie trying to fill cars with gas every time the bell dinged. while it's cannon in most zombie movies and books these days that the walkers recover some semblance of their lives, in almost all cases it's limited to only a very special few who were 'more alive', or otherwise takes more than a decade of continued survival of the zombie in question to relearn anything, and even then it is limited to things that the zombie in question did almost constantly while alive.

 

If there's going to be ai shooting at us, I'd prefer it be roving bands of survivor/bandit AI as has been added in the mod, and even then I'd prefer straight up human interaction.

Well, apparently according to the new patchnotes, infected soldiers will be tougher. Just physically, as one could expect.

 

No guns (used), but as close at it'll get :P

that's mostly because this game isn't about the zombies. Think of it more as 'The Walking Dead'. This game is about people surviving and the things they do to each other in order to survive. If zombies were to have any weapon, it should be just a pistol and they would have to have zero accuracy.

Like they see you and just stick there arm out or up or even down and just start shooting.

They would only have 6 to 14 rounds (sorry don't know the max mag size) and you would most likely not get hit, and if you did you would just bleed a little, lol!

Maybe 1/50 chances they get a head shot on you or something.

I'm not sure how I feel about this to be honest.

They could be like the zombies from the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games.

 

They carry a rifle still, but can't really aim it. Sometimes they just shoot straight downward as they come after you.

I guess it's more of a muscle spasm than anything. 

This could work as a believable "Screamer" type, where his gunshots would draw the attention of more zombies.

Edit: Well I guess I should add something more, imagine running across a field/street/courtyard, and bang. You are dead.

It wasn't a player, it wasn't someone getting the drop on you, it was a zombie, a zombie that hit you right in the head from out of nowhere, no matter how bad their aim is, they will still hit people even with a 1% aim chance, they are going to cause kills.

How about fuck no.

 

+1 for better zombies, including better AIs and Kevlar zombies being physically better protected (and maybe slower?), but this idea is better left for L4D2 and other zombie games that are designed not to be realistic.

 

How in the hell would a soldier be bitten or otherwise infected, die and come back to life and still have their weapon, draw their weapon, make sure it is ready to fire, aim, and fire even one round at anything. Even a barn wall. Goddamn....
