ReRonin 4 Posted January 28, 2014 You don't see a whole lot during the nights of DayZ, and it's a real pain if you want to scavenge at night, even if you have a head torch. There are some working light-posts on the streets (Although they don't give any proper light), this means that there must be some electricity in the cities.I noticed that most (if not all) rooms have lamps (that don't seem to be broken), but none of them have light-switches. So if you haven't guessed where this is going already, adding light-switches to rooms might add some nice interaction with the environment, and it'd make scavenging at night a lot more fun! You'd be able to tell which rooms have been visited, if people didn't turn off the lights. Of course, not every room/building should have a working lamp, most of them might even be broken. thoughts on this?
IkaikaKekai 1957 Posted January 28, 2014 Thous light posts by all rights shouldn't be working at all, unless they're on battery backups with a small solar cell, which I highly doubt.
TEST_SUBJECT_83 465 Posted January 28, 2014 It would be cool to look for a switch in the dark and have light to loot in, but it would make no sense whatsoever. The only way a light switch could work in DayZ is if a generator was part of the equation.
DemonGroover 8836 Posted January 28, 2014 I believe the street lights are to be removed and are a temporary feature until the night time is up to the Devs standards. There should be no power at all apart from battery powered. It would not take long for the power grid to completely fail without the constant maintenance that is required to keep things running smoothly.
