Do you save your loot? or spend it when you can?

In the game and mod when I get a good gun,and ammo I run out side and clear the place of zombies.

 

I do this because I know bandits can take it from me in a second,but I also know this could be waste or just get me killed faster. for example with my first m4 I ran outside to shot zombies, and got shot in the back before I ran out of bullets,but its better then never getting a shot off.

 

 

So do you try to save your stuff on the chance of needing it or do you just use it when you can?

Sometimes, I'll stash gear when I'm going into a high risk area.  I went to the water spigot by the Firehouse on the outskirts of Elektro and I dropped all my gear, save my clothes in a random bush in the middle of the forest, then I went down to the spigot.  Sure enough, a bandit runs up and tries to hold me up.  I played along and seeing that I had nothing, he was kind enough to let me drink and then go on my way.  Then I went on my way...back to my stash...grabbed my Mosin and killed him.  Who was the real bandit? :P

I remember back last year, I found my first AS50. I hauled ass to the nearest town, got lucky and found a tent, placed it in the shittiest spot ever, and threw it in, hoping to conserve it's lifespan...

 

It was gone within a few hours.

 

 

I still try to save my goodies though.

I was not playing dayz in the as50 days,because I could not access a computer for a long while, So I could not really play arma 2,or anything untill just awhile ago around the time I joined the fourms.

 

If I had a as50 I would take the longest shot at a zed as I could

I carry normally at all times an M4, sawed off shotgun, Mosin, FNX, and colt with me at all times. And yes i use them at all times. And yes i am a walking armory.

I find more mags than i do M4s you just need to know where all the possible sweet spots are for the gun ammo.

 

Man they need to make the loot spawn in allot of the other random houses to. Like just walk into a normal house and find a rare M4 or something. Hopefully once they got everything else out of the way the loot locations get spiced up more.

Good point. I have often speculated on my own stat--bullets fired vs. bullets left on my dead corpse. I reckon I've only probably ever shot 10%max of all bullets I've ever carried in my dayz. Once I realized the folly of saving stuff for a future that bandits too easily take, I started to take a more proactive approach to my gameplay.

I'm naturally a giant hoarder, but I've actually gotten better by playing the game. Usually I'd take every 60 round mag because I JUST might need it, but have taken to creating characters that use certain items.

 

I usually take anything cool or nice to my friends or random people on the coast.

I wish I knew where mags spawn,I would think blota but I am in elctro so I dunno if I want to risk going all the way there. holding up in elctro has gotten me lots of food and water,but more then one close shaves

I used to run a round with several 60 round coupled mags and shit-ton of 5.56 and only fire in pvp engagements.  You get a little more cavalier about it though once you've died a number of times with all that unused ammo.  Plus I haven't been able to stockpile (as quickly) that much ammo since the last update anyways.  

 

My play style has changed/evolved somewhat, and now I consider myself deployable with a Mosin and a 20-round box of 7.62

I hoard mags and ammo until I have ~500 ammo.

 

Then I use them on players,zombies and sometimes I find someplace safe and conduct SCIENCE

 

Example of my studies has shown that you should just throw regular m4 sights away, since you shoot accurately even without sights as with them. But without sights you can see your surroundings much better. Also even if you remove your sights you still can zero your gun up to 300m.

Ahhah when I started I just axed every zombie .. then I realised I was bug wiped / being killed before using any ammo so then I just started to shoot zombies .. now it is a little harder t find an M4 I maybe a little more careful .. but probably not xD

Currently I have to keep the ammunition for possible pvp action.

If I have plenty of ammo I practice at zombies. (I do that only if the server is not full.)

I tend to hoard the good stuff and ammo a bit. Mostly in the spirit of role playing and not wanting to attract a hoard of zombies.

Imagine 15 or 20 zombies coming out of a town because you made too much noise.

The longer I play, the less stuff I keep. I eat all food as soon as I can, unless I expect to give some of it to a friend. I never keep more than 3 magazines of ammo for my M4 (every time I've needed more than two, there were too many enemies and I died anyway) and no extra guns (what would be the point of a pistol, when I have a rifle?). I've also stopped carrying 5 water bottles, as a well is never more than 5-10 minutes walk away. I now carry one bottle of water for emergencies.

 

I probably WOULD carry medical supplies, but most of them aren't used for anything in the current version, som some bandages, morphine and perhaps a blood kit is enough.

Agreed. I cant carry more than a pistol in my pack. Sawn off doesn't even fit.
