Some Epic (And Plausable) Ideas For DayZ

Just though I'd share some cool ideas I came up with that all evolve around one central idea.

 

From my experience in the past with the mod and all I came to learn something, something that could really draw a lot more attention to the game and how it is played. I realized that the DayZ community have always loved seeing things within the map that they can interact with. We see examples of this with the Epoch mod (Base Building) and maps like Namalisk (EMP Weather Storm). These examples lead me to thinking of some cool ideas that could easily be implemented (You don't need to be a know-it-all to know this ^_^) into DayZ at a later date. Keep in mind I haven't spent hours scouting the forums to see if these ideas have already been recommended, for obvious reasons...

 

Anyway, straight to the point now. These ideas are just some things I feel would be cool to add to the map:

 

  • A train that ventures around the maps railway system. This train could carry some reasonable/high end loot that could be obtained by one of the following ways:

- Locate the system controlling the train on the map and destroy it (Then having to find where the train stopped when you destroyed the system) from then on anyone that finds the train can search it and gather its goodies inside.

 

- Blow up the railway and derail the train. From then on anyone that finds the train can search it and gather its goodies inside.

 

- Have a ramp on the back on the train that cars can be driven onto. From then on whoever is inside the car can hop out onto the train then search it and gather its goodies inside.

 

- The train can stop and designated stop points where players/groups can control/camp the area waiting for the train to arrive. From then on anyone that finds the train stopped for the short period of time can search it and gather its goodies inside

 

 

  • Helicopter/Plane that fly's over the map at random times in random locations. The Heli/Plane can then crash in one of the following ways:

- Can be shot down by any player using weapons such as RPGs. Audio from the pilot then could be played across all radio frequencies saying the coordinates that they are going down on (So anyone with a radio will then rush to the location)

 

-Automatically crashes and doesn't have to be shot at. Audio from the pilot then could be played across all radio frequencies saying the coordinates that they are going down on (So anyone with a radio will then rush to the location)

 

- Drops a package then fly's off. Audio from the pilot then could be played across all radio frequencies saying the coordinates that they dropped the package (So anyone with a radio will then rush to the location)

 

  • Roaming packs of wolfs that are hostile to players if close enough (Not sure if this is already planned). Packs can vary in size and some could carry a leader of the pack that if killed there is a % chance of the wolfs fleeing.

 

  • Harsh weather effects much like the ones from Namalsk that force players to take cover (More the reason to have a base)

 

 

These are just off the top of my head and I've only just returned from work so theres probably a few I missed, O well ^_^ But yeah, what do you guys think?

My eyes!!

 

Roaming Wolves and harsh weather yes.

 

But i am not keen on The Beast or NPCs.  NPCs invariably suck or are Terminator aimbots.

I like some of the ideas, alot of these things were in good Mod servers including some who tweaked with the infamous server lag to shit train script.  Rocket does not want to go for NPC's so I think we can rule that out.  Beast in the night that persuades you sounds like he will need to drive a pedo van.  Harsh weather yes please. Heli drops sure why not I like that stuff.

When its done, i think, there will be most likely more maps and mods which Features some of the things you meant. I really like the wolfpack and the weather/storm idea. But I am not sure about the 'Events' like crashing train or plane. Would be cool somehow but it might has to much effect on regular gameplay if player waiting for this to happen.

Thats why I added the fact that most of them have to be triggered by the players themselves. They would reset on every server restart but not all of them would be active at once, maybe 1 or 2 are possible to happen per server restart and only have a % chance of even happening. Just an idea anyway.

Hopefully that will be easier on your eyes, but don't go expecting me to pay your medical bill (; And yeah I removed the NPC/Beast idea as it was a bit out there....
