blackberrygoo 1416 Posted January 27, 2014 Of course there would be objects on the ground and in plain sight ... I'm surprised noone has seen this in dayz aftermath the mod ... The searchable containers fridges cabinets and weapon lockers you can search in that mod keep youSearching a town for legit an hour instead of 15 mins , although it takes longer to search there are still items of use In plain sight ... This would be easy to implement at first as long as the script isn't too hard to write , which I'm sure it's not cuz like I said its in a mod called Dayz Aftermath so if they can do it I'm sure dean hall can but its probly not too high on his list ... But come on people how can anyone have any problem with this it's what a zombie apocalypse is all about ( constant looting / scavenging) there's no way it'd be as easy to loot a whole town in real life as it is in dayz standalone now . The Aquatic Land Walrus 565 Posted January 27, 2014 I'd love to see items spawning inside of the objects like fridges. But, hey. It's a step up from the DayZ mod. All of those cans of beans would only spawn on the ground. It's like my sister got to the place before I did (My sister makes a mess out of fucking ANYTHING she sees. That's why I made the joke. Inside joke.)
Roshi (DayZ) 397 Posted January 27, 2014 I'd like a mix of containers and random loot. Pretty sure this was suggested earlier but do like your images.
Kenny Kyle 138 Posted January 27, 2014 beans.i think that would be good for our fps performance when the loot have a little "instance" like a fridge.and you can swap loot with your friends better. dont neet to wait for the drop on the street.at the time we use pants and stuff for trade. dayum. my english is soo good today-.- cheers
evil_this 27 Posted January 27, 2014 (edited) Well hire more programmers and get on it! ( pre alpha ) is a generic term to state an unfinished product, but generally shows the "basic direction the game is going to take and includes most of the functionality of the game in its barest form. " currently we have no loot able objects, which is a step backwards from the "dayz mod" which was truly the pre alpha, that had loot able objects , tents / vehicles that you were able to access the gear!" Compare this to other pre alphas, the point is to create the foundation and build upwards on it. To create the basic functionality, and the very core elements. To not include things that will be removed later , if you plan on removing them later take them out now . To have it as closely resembling final build as possible that currently allows. Pre alpha is basically your "visual indicator of what the final product will be like" If pre alpha doesn't show the direction that you wish to take the final build then Its not clearly a good foundation is it? Why put in "loot that has no functionality" Its all about the order of doing things.. Good thing you're at the helm of a massive development effort by some of the best pros in milsim ever. Good job on that 1M sales in 40 days of Alpha. Thanks for all you do Rocket HEY! YOU'RE NOT ROCKET! Seriously though, first and foremost "hire more programmers" doesn't matter. Adding even a couple more programmers, as I'm sure has already been done, won't have an immediate impact on the game's development speed. Those new programmers require time to learn what the team is about, become immersed in the vision, become familiar with the tools used and the general theme of things. Then they get to 'practice' develop and build for a couple months, then finally when they're turning out work that matches the devs who have been working on this project for years, then they will begin to have a net positive impact on the development speed. In re: your "pre alpha is..." .. nonsense. Fucking anything before release is what it is, in the order the people footing the bill and who do this professionally with much experience determine. Anything else is nonsense and probably wrong. Edited January 27, 2014 by Evil_This
SyL3X 51 Posted January 27, 2014 Miscreated will have lootable objects and other stuff DayZ will probably never have. Add the Cryengine and you got a pretty neat game. I wonder how Miscreated team can do all these cool stuff with a significant smaller dev team and lower budget and DayZ all it can implement is a colorful variety of boots. commanderbash 102 Posted January 27, 2014 my only issue is it seems it'd take longer to loot an area if I had to check every drawer and cabinet, and I wouldn't be able to do a cursory glance to see if what I want is in the room or even if the room has been looted already, and I doubt they would add more loot by using containers so it'd be the same stuff just slower to get at. though this would make it more plausible to randomize loot every so often, and keep track of what has and has not been picked up, so it has its ups and downs
Survivor_Sabre 23 Posted January 28, 2014 (edited) Fully agree, containers should absolutely be accessible; was rather stumped when I got in game and found out they weren’t. I do think opening animations are a must for immersion, however. They don't have to be spectacular. Furthermore, all these ruined houses means those hinges would be getting rusty so noise is also important, this means you can tell, even if they are being stealthy and sneaking around the place, if someone is searching the room next too you. Fruit_loop87 21 Posted January 28, 2014 Um have you forgotten one small thing with out power would you eat some raw old smelly meat? Doesn't talk long for a fridge to get really hot and smells bad when it had no power running... It only takes a few hours for an commercial kitchens fridge to start getting warm and we had to start using ice to put things on and have temp checks every 5min because the food will spoil.. I like the idea of having loot in things what you can open.
HIHBGaming 14 Posted January 28, 2014 Rocket has said that fridges, cookers(stoves), cardboard boxes etc. are being worked on to be much like containers for loot. When you stand next to them and open up your inventory UI the items would show up in the vicinity view, much like Project Zomboid as far as I'm understanding. He said this in either his own Stream the other day or Sacriel's, I forget which.

HIHBGaming 14 Posted January 29, 2014 (edited) So is this something they plan on doing in 2014? Heh, as with anything Rockets says, there are no time constraints put on it. He has just said it's something they or were working on. ;) Eleven minutes into this vid he mentions it. Edited January 29, 2014 by R.Neville

undwirtanzten 0 Posted June 18, 2014 So you basically want Fallout 3 ... ... and Yes, for DayZ to be immersive it would have to be somewhat like Fallout 3 & NV, it's just logic, just Bethesda got there first, but crapped out on multiplayer ability last I checked, fallout 3 had npcs and wasn't an MMO. TOTALLY different gameplay, totally different decision making tree, and totally different outcomes.
