There's no reason to go to the NWAF or the north anymore (here's why)

Recommended Posts

Dude, it's Alpha, half the loot and gear are not even in the game yet. I would say like 10% of the gear is implemented. Wait for Beta things will go and be a lot better. Full-Release it will be amazing.

While I agree with you, a huge part of alpha development is listening to what players want. If none of these topics were created, how would the dev team know about these not-so obvious issues?

yes, but people tend to have a tone like "this game is broken shit because *insert issue*!!!!!" instead of "*insert issue* should be improved because it's not working*

many seem to fail to see the game as an alpha and are expecting it to be fully functional product.

but yes, pointing out issues in general is the most important thing.

I agree with you, but for a slightly different reason.

I and my friends had found a very small town just NE of the NWAF; wasn't on the map, had decent loot, no one was ever there. Perfect home base. We'd gear up and jog to the airfield everyday (sometimes dying ;) ), and it worked.

Now, however, the small town has been expanded quite a lot and is becoming a hotspot. Add in the higher traffic at NWAF, and my freshly-killed character (goodbye, week-long spawn :'( ) is debating the point of running for another hour to get there, and for the same result.

Basically, this is my verbose way of saying "It's getting old: come on, larger map!"

if you think people abandon NWAF because of Balota loot, doesn't that mean that NWAF is now actually a safer place to loot? i should actually go there instead of over-populated Balota?

Nope, no difference. Just as risky.

Wait... it's a bad thing that you can get weapons from more places than just one ._.? Should all the players be forced to go to the biggest PvP arena in the game just to get a gun? Baaaad idea, you should feel bad. I already hate the design of the NWAF, I rather go to "secret" military camps or get a gun from an office building :)

yeah. they should remove everything else from the map and just leave NWAF. actually, they should just make it deathmatch.

everyobody go home. DayZ is cancelled.

I guess I'll be the asshat to say it... "endgame"... In a "survival" game? Yes, I understand it is a game. Yes, I understand the entire point of a game is to have fun, but, and this is my opinion and I welcome debate on it... How can you take the game this is turning into (open sandbox, random spawning loot and zombies), and turn it into a linear *get to the airfield-ship-CHOPPA! That be where the lewts are and peoples to kills and whatnots!*???

I'm sorry but if your toon in this game made it to the (insert where you spawn here), and that is where your story begins, you should NOT know that 2 clicks up the road your previous toon is there with phat loots where you fell off the ladder, you should NOT have a linear path to places where there are phat lewts and gathering grounds and people to kill, or befriend or buttsecks to happy places... Add more people and more loot spawns if you hate not running into people.

I for one would love to see the military gear all over the place and NONE at the bases. Sorry, but if a Zombie breakout happened, those weapons and gear would be on the soldiers that would have been DEPLOYED when it happened, so it could be anywhere.

Point being, if I wanted to play Contra, I would, and have, and loved it. "Endgame", hot spots and whatnot, should be a moot point if this game is done right in the end. Don't care what the mod was either, this is not the mod, that's kinda the point.

This is Alpha. "Play", find bugs, watch it progress, and if this "Alpha" version of the game gets boring to you, play something else for a bit, or be constructive in your attempts to fix/update/expand this "Alpha" version of the game, and please don't hope it turns into anything with an "Endgame" that isn't a black screen with small letters saying (you are dead)... THAT is DayZ SA endgame.

/end rant

having "endgame" goals only means to have a some goal in the game wich you can pursue if you so choose. without a goal or a real challenge (like the game at this point) it just turns intoa PvP asshattery simulator because everyone is so bored. i'm not talking about some "mission" but something that would constantly challenge you and keep you busy.

after you find military gear and your backpack is full of ammo and food, what do you do? yes, go KoSing and bambi hunting, since there's nothing else to do either.

I agree with you. The original post didn't seem to take that into account... It sounded to me as if it was a request for a finished product DayZ SA, to be a linear game, with "endgame" being, gear up, head somewhere, kill peoples. I was challenging that aspect of it I guess, in my mind it would be an idiotic concept.

I still rather go all the way up to NEAF and then to NWAF. I never liked the Balota AF, always felt it is way more dangerous, and the Pavlovo military camp is the same. It looks like a trap to me. At the two north AFs I can check the area much better and also NWAF is so big that if a bandit is camping one side, the other side is safe. Still my favorite place to get military gear.

I agree with the OP on this one. I feel that adding more mill camps has sort of made the game more about finding a weapon than before. In the mod people sometimes just made do with a crappy weapon and went to try and fix a car, knowing they could avoid hotspots and just scavenge parts. Or go in search of tents to set up a base, before trying for the beast itself....NWA.

Now there are so many mill loot places, and not just basic like the mod tents, but soooo many barracks. Its like getting a gun will now always be what people want to do first, with so many options why wait.

Im sure we will see balancing towards the end when more items are in, and maybe some buildings will be altered or replaced. But atm i feel like its gone towards one of those mods of mods like overwatch, when i was expecting it to lean more towards a vanilla z but better. Dont get me wrong those mods were popular, and if it will attract players thats good. Just surprised me a bit :)

I agree. I have no issue with there being more military loot at the bases, but there should be random military loot all over the map. I'd like to stumble across wiped out patrols and broken down military vehicles (including helicopters) in random areas.

I think some of you are missing the point of the game. Once you're geared up you don't have to go hunting you can...wait for it...continue exploring and surviving. You can also join a clan and help other players or take your chances and try to help people you meet (just be very careful and smart about how you do this). If you think KOS and "bambi hunting" are the only things to do once you gear up, you're part of the problem. I get more satisfaction out of finding gear one of my friends needs and giving it to them, healing injured friends or providing over watch while they loot than I do from killing a defenseless new spawn. You also might try using your imagination and setting a goal for yourself. On one spawn my goal was to make it to Lopatino "where I was from" to see if any of my family had survived.

I gotta say I like that Bolota/Cherno has all the military gear one could ever want. It pretty much keeps bandits and bambies wanting to be bandits on the coast.

I do hope they add some kind of plane at some point.

I mean...it is an airfield.

Even if there were planes, during first hours of zombie outbreak they were taken.

I hope the helicopter crashes will make a come back. Other than the NWAF, those were a great reason to adventure north and explore remote areas.

Pointless thread is pointless.

How dare people converse and share their thoughts!

Alright everyone, back to smashing our toes with hammers.

That's the problem; it discourages exploring the rest of the map, and it encourages PVP now that guns are fairly easy to get. In the mod, usually only the people who survived the airfield had military-grade assault rifles; everyone else was stuck with pistols or lee enfields or shotguns.

Addressing those who question my statement of "endgame", as someone else pointed out, it's not a way to win the game, it's a larger goal that can be achieved if one chooses to try. You didn't have to go to the NWAF, it was something optional. If you were satisfied with having a shotgun or military weapons from deer stands, then it was your choice. "Endgame" is not in reference to completion, but something to strive towards. Even getting there didn't' mean the game was over, you still have to think of new things to do.

And for those wondering if I suggested NWAF-exclusive loot because I have trouble finding things to do in-game (and resort to killing people), in the mod DayZ I stayed alive for 7 months on one character without killing anyone (became a medic with a jeep and what not). My character was eventually reset for some reason. In DayZ Standalone, I've been alive for three weeks. So stfu, I can find plenty of ways to entertain myself :D

I like that NWAF isn't the only useful area in the map. It spreads out the server population. In the mod it was annoying with everyone being in Cherno, Elektro, Starry or NWAF

I kind of agree with the OP to an extent, but I would like to see other areas be more attractive. Right now most people just run to cherno or balota. It's really pretty boring. Every time I head anywhere past maybe 1 small town north of the coast towns, I never find a single soul. All I have to do is run back to the coast to find a million noobs with no weapons, or decked-out server-hopping fresh spawn killers. I think they should still nerf balota a little bit or at least put another military area in novy or gorka to kind of spread it out more.

We need more reasons for noobies and noob-killers to get off of the coast and explore the map.

This; even if NWAF no longer has exclusive stuff, we need reasons to leave the coast
