Confusion on why FPS is so bad?

Well, you have to consider my poor hardware, in front of the first perofrmance patch it was straight out unplayable on my specs, after first patch barely playable, after second patch i get up to 40+ frames. That is, compared to the initial performance on my specs, like a completly different game. So yeah, for me it is the biggest improvement on a system on which improvements realy count, i have ever seen.   :)

please excuse the horrible grammar.

Well that's good I guess. :)

I wouldn't expect any PS2-esque miracles with DayZ then, but towards the end of development I think things will definitely run a bit more smoothly for everyone.

No. Adding more AI and more zombies = more CPU strain

Nah, now that zombies are handled server side it's the server that bears the brunt of it. Of course if the server becomes slow this will affect client-side performance, but the idea is to optimise things both sides so that they can increase the zombie count without that happening as well as improving client-side performance.
