I think some of the optics needs more magnification

Recommended Posts

Some of the optics such as ACOG and PU scope need more magnification in my opinion because they don't really seem to zoom in all that much. At least to my eyes that is...

I'm fine with the 3.5x zoom on the PU

Agree the ACOG may need a bit of tweaking, though

LOL next time you bring up your scope or iron sights press Escape, go into configuration, drag the FOV all the way to the left and presto, maximum magnification.

The view, draw distance, and magnification in the arma engine are modeled after real human perception. The acog is only about 4x, a $30 pair of binoculars will be 10x30.

For something like the m4 more than 4x would be pushing its effective range anyway

After  adjusting my Field of view my Acog is 8x view, however it is too bad the M4's 5.56mmx45 is inaccurate as hell after 300m which is sadly accurate for the weapon. so I can see for miles however I am unable to hit anything even when holding breath and not having moved in a while. It is only good inside of 300 meters for accuracy but hell that's life.

I think the aim is to get the number of snipers down to a minimum. A pristine scope of any kind is going to be a rare item from now on. If you want to kill someone with your M4 or mosin it will most likely mean using Iron sights to do so. If you still have any of the laser dot optics, PU scopes, Acog or (praise to the gods) a long range sight, in decent condition, cherish it greatly. If you lose it it may well be a long while before you find another.

I cleaned and painted my mosin last night and ruined it several different ways. In the end I came across an M4-A1 and just happened to have a box full of pristine goodies from the old days when things were not as hard to come by. I kitted out the M4 and then stripped the mosin of the scope bipod and compensator, stuck that into the box and tucked it away for a rainy day.bet it's going to be worth some this  someday soon.
