I can still change my gamma and brightness just fine, but a friend I play with will spawn into a night server and be able to see nothing but blackness. Also, I agree with Frosti that there is no reason to handicap yourself in a game like Dayz. The game is about survival, and allowing yourself to be handicapped like that is just silly. It then goes to the point of: if the game allows you to do it, then you do it. Edit: so the only reason to not use the exploit is to test the night cycle, and to provide feedback on it. I love playing when there's moonlight and you can see - if the god damn lighting for flashlights weren't like fucking beacons that you can see from miles away, shining through god damn buildings. Fix Lighting then it would be more enjoyable. Anyways, I think that it's only some servers that allow for the gamma "exploit" not all of them... It's the Moon. If there is moon or in best scenerio full moon night then gamma exploit works with full force. However if night is moonless then gamma exploiting do nothing. That means that some servers have fixed this issue or it is like the other person here said too much clouds. I hope I can go back to real night time again soon. However your performance may take a hit due to the settings, so change a few of them and you should be fine.
