I dont understand if I throw my arms up in the air while they are coming towards me, why they have to pop me in the head. Dont even ask for my stuff just kill me... why not just take my shit atleast and leave me close to where im heading. The most annoying part is that I have to start at the god damn beach again.

I had a similar experience with the MOD when it first came out. I didn't die, but the friends I had finally met, did. I had searched for days to find friendly players and when I finally did, they were killed less than 5 minutes later by bandits. It's one of my most memorable experiences in this game. The loss I felt, the anger I felt, the emotion a video game could make me feel.

I think a key part of enjoying DayZ is accepting death. Realizing that sometimes you have to put yourself at risk in order to make things happen. If you live in a padded room all your life you'll never feel anything. Sometimes falling down and getting back up again can be an amazing experience. Something you'll remember forever, even if it hurts at the time.

Speaking for myself, I would have no idea of knowing whether you would follow me or pull out a pistol and just kill me.  Perhaps I let you live and you stalk me for a while in the shadows waiting for me to loot something.  You get the idea I hope.

This is from experience btw.  I've let a few people live and it has backfired every frickin time.  I don't blame these players for doing this, it is apart of the game.

Bliss, one thing to remember is to NEVER get attached to your gear. You WILL lose it. In 5 minutes, or 5 days, it WILL be gone. To another player, a zombie, or by clipping through the wall of the 3rd floor of an office building.

Also, this is my general game plan as a fresh spawn. I have refined it to the point of near perfection, due to the number of times I have died (only twice to a player, oddly enough).

Follow these easy steps:

1. The instant you gain control of your character, crouch and visually scan the area. You are looking for several things. The first is any immediate threats (zombies or other players). Next you need to identify (through experience) your spawn location. Once you know the town or area you are in, proceed immediately to the nearest water source and drink until you are full. On the way, keep an eye out for open doors, as these indicate that either a player is nearby, or that the place is already looted. In addition, keep an eye out for particular buildings that are known to have good loot (pubs, piano houses, etc). If you can, find a food item or two. Once you have drunk your fill and have a food item, its time to proceed to step 2.

2. LEAVE ASAP. DO NOT stay here, it is dangerous. From wherever you are, your next step is to find a melee weapon. Again, through experience, try to find the nearest structures that commonly spawn axes (other melee weapons are just about useless. But even a shovel is better than your bare hands). Try to pick a location that is off the beaten path if your are familiar enough with the terrain. If none is available or known, find what you can. Once you manage to find one, step 3.

3. Now, you need to get off the coast and proceed inland. Find an obscure town down the road a few miles (stay away from military loot zones). Loot these towns for everything they are worth, but at all times keep your head on a swivel. Eventually, by looting these small towns, you will get lucky and find better gear, and even a gun. Once you have a gun, proceed to step 4.

4. continue to loot small towns until you have, at minimum, the following:

A gun and ammo.

A backpack. Either a hunting, or a green one of the large variety (hunting pack is preferred for its relatively large storage space compared to its color and low profile).

A helmet (moto or military).

A pair of gloves.

A pair of boots (civ. or military).

A fire axe (no substitute. keep looking until you have one).

A better shirt (minimum of 4 slots)

A pair of cargo pants.

A source of bandages (torn shirts, or those found in medic pouches).

Do NOT stockpile your food OR your sodas. Eat/drink them as soon as you have a "safe" spot to do so. The added energy boost will keep you from needing to eat/drink again for some time, and the more energy you get from food and sodas, the closer you will get to healthy status.

Once you have this minimum kit, its time to go to step 5.

5. Head to NWAF. Once you get there, you will need to BYPASS the entire place. Do not run through it, but around it. Head all the way to the back until you see the tents city. Near it is a road. Follow this road up a hill and to a small complex. Scout it out carefully. If it is unoccupied (no open doors or gates, presence of zombies), head in and clear it out of zeds and loot. There is also a well inside the complex, so drink your fill. Here you will likely find one or more items that would be considered an improvement over whatever you already have. From this compound, head back down to the airfield, and, if you are feeling brave, loot as much as you can. As ALWAYS, your head should be on a swivel. If you even ONCE see a door that is opened on a major loot building, LEAVE the airfield.

At this point there is only one more step.

6. SURVIVE. Do whatever you want. At this point you could be said to be fairly well kitted. You may not have a matching set of TTsKO clothes, 4 storage boxes, a fully stocked ammo box, 2 pistols and a fully outfitted M4, but you don't NEED all that to survive an encounter with another player (although they certaintly help). Survive long enough, and you WILL look like that. Then the boredom sets in. In any survival situation, boredom can be a dangerous enemy. To alleviate the boredom, go hunting. And no, I don't mean for the rabbits that don't die. Pursue more dangerous, predatory prey.

This is essentially how I play the game and survive.

Good luck.

I am a little reckless but that's just because it takes me an hour or so to get enough gear to kill 3 or 4 other players. I have tried to survive for days and days on end and it isn't that hard it is just incredibly boring, so I prefer running around the coast and PVPing.

Not another KOS-whinethread.

Search the countless other threads for the reasons why KOS bandits are an important part of the DayZ atmosphere and why that particular style of gameplay won't EVER be restricted.

So it's pointless to complain about it.

That makes this thread pointless.

LOL if you read this thread, it actually got a decent amount of positive feedback and am no longer pissed off. Your comment was probably the most worthless on this whole thing

That doesn't really say anything as most people on these forums do more complaining than supporting, especially when it comes to the hot topic of KOS.

Just use the search function and complain in one of the existing threads, instead of creating a new one is all I'm saying.

I meet a group of friendly's, who openly accept me.. Im so excited to finally be part of a team in this game.

We make our way to the new city, looting as we go, by the time we get there we have lots of food, all have atleast 1 weapon, good to go.

Im standing there looting a car with my new friend's, and BAM. Instantly dead, i hear my new friends panic and run.

What a fucking joke. You people who KoS are terrible people, I was so excited and you just burn my fun with your assholeness.

Honestly think im done for awhile, its just soooo much fun for these people to ruin others' game experience. Im so sad =(

Most friendly player EVER by the way, before I reached that town I gave away an M4, a sawed off shotgun and a FNX5 plus ammo.

I think some people that play this game are litterally sadists.

simple solution, join a clan, we are recruiting all the time, give us a shout

Maybe you should do some research on the game before you buy it

i mean, not in the "it`s an alpha" way, because i guess you know that.

But you know, in the mod it was basicly the same, there was no "end game" except for shooting people

and with an unfinished product that consists of guns, some misc gear, and the ability to shoot other people

i don`t know what you expected, if you want a zombie survival/builder game with no pesky KoSers go play 7 days to die.

Me and my buddies recently accepted a new guy to our group. Little did he know we didn't care shit for him so as we were making our way to the city, pretty full on food and armed we stopped to loot the car. Then we decided to kill that dirty mofo who thought he could be our friend. My friend who stood next to the trunk with him made it all look like a bandit attack but it was me who shot him, hehe.

People who KOS are cowards at best. It's in the game and I accept it. In no way would I ever tell someone how to enjoy the game they paid to play. But it doesn't change the fact that they are cowardly bitches, too lazy to actually interact with someone. Take pleasure in the fact you are not like that, and know that not everyone in the game is like that.

Im sensing alot of ppl really dont have the stomach to play a game like dayz. Sure most of us have played pvp games before...but its different than for instance counter strike where u run around, careless about losing ur life.

Permadeath, no save, no safe zone...alot of players simply dont have the balls to play this game.

And im not saying im freaking happy when someone kills me after ive spendt a couple dayz gearing up....but at some point ur reaction is just too emotional and u should rightfully consider playing another game.

To OP - I know how you feel buddy, but it is a part of the game, and a good learning lesson for you as well.

You will improve your gameplay in light of this - stay vigilant, especially when in groups. Groups are a big target for bandits and lone wolfs. Try to remain unseen, scout your area well and keep lookouts.
