THESIS ON THE MOSIN

Recommended Posts

I would argue that mosin's are incredibly accurate even at 800 meters. I killed a good amount of people who were camping in the cherno tower from that distance. And the bullet/flight time and such, I would say those wouldn't -really- matter since at any distance over 300m you should only take the shot if you are 100% sure the bullet will hit.

All your points are good though, although the one hit kill rate is iffy, I've had several instances where my targets survived the first shot, but that may have been due to decreased damage over distance. There has been a time where a guy shot me in the legs 2 meters away and I survived, so there's that.

I've seen people be killed from 900-1000 meters. It's a matter of knowing distance and drop based off of the scope. The Mosin is a laser if you can use it right.

So with PU score, mosin is more accurate then with hunting optics? Gosh I would hate, if weapon accuracy is based on scopes, that would make zero sense.

No. What I said was the weapon is more accurate at the maximum engagement range of the PU scope (300m) then near the maximum engagement range of the Long Range Scope (800m)

The greater the distance the bullet travels the greater it drifts. Nothing weird there.

It's always the same these days.  Facebook, Reddit, here.  People seem to be so eager to be able to pat themselves on the back for correcting grammar, spelling, and now even layout?  "Hmm, yes, and he didn't cite his sources appropriately according to the MLA format guidelines.  Indeed.  Quite."  *twirls pretentious mustachios*  I had to google that format crap that I learned in English Comp and I am proud to admit that.  All the class English should do in this day and age is prevent kids from thinking it is acceptable to email your boss "I need 2 leave. U cool with that?"  No, I'm not.  2 is neither an adverb or a preposition!  And a forum post shouldn't be up for peer review.

For the OP, I like the study.  I used to do this with 2 different Mosins but the same scope and bipod to test weapon accuracy before the Weapon Condition was shown in the tooltip.  With the PU, did you ever change the Field of View? I find zooming it all the way in makes the PU operate closer to LRS range, and the LRS operates like the eyes of God.  Before I get beaten up, I used the vague term "closer" because if you use the LRS and the PU, there is a difference regardless of the FoV.

CrazyKage, I almost missed that Goldmember ref.  Nice one.

And thanks for turning English into food.  FOR ONCE it is useful.  But I want a sub.

Also, if you are a writer, or are in grad school about to write your dissertation, ignore what I said.  Knowing what an essay, or thesis is, and how to format it, yeah, it's kinda important.

There is too much talk about writing-things in this thread, and way too little talk about the Vintovka Mosina...

I am disappointed, comrades...

text wall that I didn't read.

BTW: OP, a thesis is not an essay, but is itself the core IDEA of an essay.

Your title should have just been "Essay on the Mosin". But any worthwhile English teacher would have scribbled red ink all over that title as well.

"A thesis, or dissertation, is a document submitted in support of candidature for an academic degree or professional qualification presenting the author's research and findings."

Maybe do a little research yourself

A thesis is the document you write to earn your PhD, not just the statement of an essay that contains the main idea

Thank you for posting lootandlive. i use mosin no scope ( no 360's whilst jumping off a water tower yet). sorry i digress.

With a mosin build you will need a pistol for cqc. or a bloody good axe arm. i guess this is why an M4 is the  . . prefered weapon of choice.

And looking at the debate on mosins at range . .i have a friend ( dont we all) that can headshot at 700/800( rough estimatation) meters with an LRS . non bipod. due to practice, learning lead in, and account for bullet drop. granted the zombies dont move, but players do. when he's online, i feel safe enough to go face to face with people and see if they need help.i know if they so much as twich, ill stand there in my backpack giving stuff out / bandageing and they will fall over. if they dont, i have to hear the word "unfriendly" and im out of there.

The mosin, for me, is the perfect overwatch weapon.

I keep reading the title as "THESIS ON THE MOON." But it's never on the moon, and I am continually disappointed. This is extremely important, and should be corrected.

unfortunately, i haven't had as much testing with a LRS as with a PU. too bad. once i get one, ill post again if this post is read at all.

I only use LRS and my results are mixed.

600 meters to the chest will kill with one shot, sometimes.

200 meters to the chest will kill with one shot, sometimes.

Pristine scope, shots will drift high and left from center. Example, aim at targets left leg and the shot will land on the right of the ribcage. Same scope, same rifle, same shot---dead center.

The results are mixed which leads me to believe there are ballistics issues that are bugged in.
