Cars as loot location?

Hi all..

 

I've heard a few times that cars can be a good place to find loot.  I must have searched 50plus cars and never even seen a can of tuna.. let alone anything decent.  I've been opening all the doors & boot (trunk, for you savages :P ), searched under them.. nadda, nilch, squat!

 

Unlucky?  Looking in the wrong place?  Or something else.  Yesterday I got to raid Stary Sobor, no one had been there before, maybe 10 cars.. nothing.. saw a police car, nothing.  Is it a myth.. or are cars good loot spawns?

Seems random. Some times all cars I come across have loot, sometimes there's nothing to be found.

The cars standing around in Dubky are a good Mosin source..

And there is a Lighthouse on the coast with cars in front of it where i found one.

Seems so odd.. cos I've been to numerous towns that have not been looted, found loads of loot in buildings.. and not a single thing in the cars in the same towns.. just unlucky i guess.

The picture you showed with the Mosin is pre-patch, I haven't found anything in cars recently either maybe like the tents cars where also nerfed as loot spawns.

hmmmm ok... all my car searches have been post patch.. and i've searched a hell of a lot and found nothing.. thanks for the heads up.  I think car spawns may have been removed..

Yeah car loot spawns have been removed as far as I can tell. Used to be you'd find a full map going through just 2-3 cars which was silly, but removing all loot shouldn't have been the answer to that.  :|

Perhaps they did some big changes to the loot table, ive noticed an overall lower amount of loot, everywhere tbh, after 0.32  :)

Agreed, loot seems down across the board.  In one way yesterday I was frustrated because I'd gotten used to how it was, in another way I realized I had to adapt and that made it more challenging which was fun.

I too haven't found anything in cars since the patch. Nothing in the tents at Balota either. It might just have been bad luck, but I played for a good couple of hours, and endured a server restart. I used to find the fireaxe, food and shoes in most cars, and quite often the Mosin.

I do not mind the spawnrates being reduced, but per now it looks like it has been completely removed :P
In any case, the game turned much more interesting. Finding more food and drinks then you can consume, and more ammo then you'll ever use quickly got boring. Now I actually have to scavenge more often. And I enjoy it.

 

(I do hope to find things in the cars and tents again tho. Just severly reduced spawns please) B)

Oh yeah loot has been heavily nerfed, but the extra challenge is great I love it. Haven't starved to death yet.

Totally agree Redwolf - either the majority of the spawn locations aren't working as intended or have rates so low it seems that way.  Not sure which I guess, until I finally find loot in a location I never have before.  Something a little more than what we have now, but definitely not as high as it was would be nice.  Also, it "seemed" like the loot tables were much harsher on the hardcore server I was playing on.  Granted most of the little houses in the tucked away little village are usually poor loot locations as it is, seven houses and finding only two cans of pop is nuts.  I really wanted a shirt - mine was gone for bandages lol.

I logged on to an empty server this morning. Was in Berezino near the water well by the industrial site that has the school I found some food, a back pack, and one of the new shotguns up where the mosin used to spawn. I did notice about 4 cans of spray paint in the 3 buildings I went in.

post-patch: I noticed the sheds that used to have moto helmets, have all been empty.  However, barns now have loot in them.  I cannot remember finding anything in cars either, but I may have run across an item or two that I am not recalling at this very moment.  I trusted what everyone else said and did not even go to the tents last night.  Hangars had some items in them, but the Airfield had been cleaned out before I got there.  All spawns are down.  Now I would say if someone has been there before, you are not going to find much of anything useful, outside of clothing if you still need basic upgrades.  I feel like I actually found more varied ammo though.  Of course it helps that I held onto the shotgun shells.  I am still looking for a magnum or fnx45, but plenty of ammo for either even a speed loader for magnum, I only have a mosin (found in a car from pre-patch) painted black and green.

Taxis = map parts. Not every time but chances are high

Happened to found a compass on a pick-up.

Make sure to search the car through, both doors, under the seat and trunk and also under the car.

Post-patch cars seem to be completely nerfed. Haven't found a single item in cars in Berez or Stary and Novi Sobor. I'll keep looking tho.
