I don't have a issue with losing my character, bugging out, randomly dying. It's alpha, shit will happen, but this whole real time ordeal is pissing me off somehow.

I thought they had the option in the server files to choose a time offset? If not, I'd be surprised if they didn't implement one. I would be frustrated always playing at night. It gets boring looking at the world in gamma adjusted grayscale. I almost wish that the day/night cycle was sped up a little.. maybe 6h/6h, that way I could experience both frequently. I really want to find a regular server and stay. I have narrowed it down to a few, but with frequent updates and or issues, I'm always having to change here and there. I have noticed that a lot of the high pop servers are typically day time, as that is where the crowds go.

there are some always day servers...also many that are on a different time schedule...honestly i only log in in the evening and i never have a problem finding a day server...

Honestly, it is really cool playing when the sun is rising / setting. It would be nice to know what time it is in the server before joining.

In-game time should be shortened by a lot. PERIOD.

 

1. for people who play at the same time everyday in real life to experience different in-game time.

 

2. for people who can't play for a super extended period of time (like 10-20 hours straight) to experience the time change, weather change, etc. in the game.

I cannot for the life of me, understand why any one would want to play at night ,,,,,,, its dark guys you cants see SFA!  whats the point of having a graphics card that will play the game if you play at night lol ....this is most bewildering to me ,, i suppose i get the realism thing to a point but this is a game, and  running round in the dark is just crazy to me lol

Lastnight, I could only find night servers, only a few daytime servers were up but full.

I'm not bothered about when I play, I'd prefer daytime, maybe rockets testing to see what happens at night?

Don't get me wrong people, I love tense gameplay at night. But it's a bit too much.

Maybe I'm quick to complain, we are after all alpha testers.

There is ALWAYS day servers to choose from.

Before the update the MGPS servers are all daytime.

MGPS servers also have a lowercase z "Dayz" while all others have an uppercase "DayZ"

 

Post patch you can just look at the time!

There are plenty of 24/7 day servers out there, not sure why you're having trouble finding one currently.

 

As for the thread itself... The subject has been brought up quite a few times. Anyway... We as Admins do not have a GMT offset, I really wish we did and hoping for one soon. A GMT offset would cure all that is wrong with people having issues with the 24hour day/night cycle. With an offset you'd be able to find a server that is day within your TZ during the time you wish to play. The cure isn't shorter day/night cycles, GMT offsets are.

checked servers list last night, all of them were indicating the actual ingame time such as 07:46 or 23:17

A 21 hour day/night cycle would be really cool, or any odd number of hours below 24 really. Long enough to feel like a regular day, but off enough to give you different hours of the day/night each time you play.

Well, if things were working correctly you would get shorter days in winter and longer days in summer. This is how it worked in the Mod/Arma so don't see why it won't in the SA.

So select a GMT value that fits with how/when you want to play. Admins having a GMT offset will give players in any TZ the variety of playing at whatever time of day/night they choose in game.

I can assure you until private hives come along(if it's even possible to change then) you won't see anything but 24/7 day/night cycles or 24/7 Day. It is what it is and has been for a long time, sorry to burst your bubble.

I know, but I'm kinda desperate to play it right now, while I got time. In maybe a few weeks, I can't divert time into video games for a while. Found a daytime server yesterday though, after 15 hours in the dark. It was beautiful.
