This is more of a hope than a suggestion, so will post in in GD

 

Later down the line, when hunting and cooking (and cannibalism ). Would be interesting to have servers with resource that are incredibly rare. Like they only respawn once a day (or week :P). I wanted to do something like this when I was modding the dayz mod files, was only workable with harvesting from the wild added (lots of potato plants that only respawn on reset). once all the things where gone in the town, you needed to hunt, Kill others and gather to survive, there where no easy pickings. I think a setting like this would add and extra challenge for the 'Elite' Players that need a real challenge (yes a know such server would be very underpopulated, so would only need a few)

 

I know it jumping the gun to talk of such a server as there is still so much to come in Dayz, but I just hope there will be something like that.

Hmm I think that the whole cannibalism idea for elite sounds pretty interesting. A bit unnecessary for the other 2 modes, but would make a whole lot of sense in an elite mode or something of the sort. I already have a hard enough time coming to terms with killing someone in this game, let alone EATING them

If zombies are going to be anything close to what we were "promised", believe me when I say, towns will not be easy pickings.

Hmm I think that the whole cannibalism idea for elite sounds pretty interesting. A bit unnecessary for the other 2 modes, but would make a whole lot of sense in an elite mode or something of the sort. I already have a hard enough time coming to terms with killing someone in this game, let alone EATING them

 

'having lunch with friends' becomes 'having friends for lunch'

 

 

If zombies are going to be anything close to what we were "promised", believe me when I say, towns will not be easy pickings.

 

I hope so, but would still like a setting with ultra rare/or no renewing resources (within a reasonable time scale)

I like idea of server start with plenty loots but no respawn ever for say 1 week/2 week ;)

 

ammo/weapon/clothe/med/foods etc even animal for hunt and berry/plant etc is never respawn when is gone is gone :o

 

first days guys make stash for everything and soon this is running out also :|

 

even water supply, make ponds so is not good for drink you must boil and filter and use purify tablets etc

 

on day 5 and 6 will be interest to see how many guys manage to stay alive with same character

 

also because loot no respawn every part of map will be explore and will have action every place :D

 

i like a lot this idea and if you do private hive with system like this i play for sure 100% and enjoy challenge - have beans  :thumbsup:  ;)  :beans:

I'm a fan of this idea too, because then it really becomes one mad dash for supplies at the beginning, and then the survival element kicks in. This way Bandits are no longer born out of "hey i have a gun lets murder someone!"

 

bandits are then born out of necessity and lack of supplies. Got a lot of supplies, you're on the run. Got nothing? You're on the hunt. Makes for a very flexible dynamic as week to week the hunters can easily become the hunted and visa versa

And I'm sure a lot of people will die fast, and some wont find food or clean water in time and die. That's what will make it 'elite' setting.

 

Just be nice to have a setting that is so challenging.

 

As for private servers and 'mods' (if they have it), I would love to make something like this if Dayz team don't make it ... Just the small  problem of server costs lol (to many commitments in RL atm, but cost may come down in time)
