pricelinenegotiator 1 Posted May 12, 2012 Hey, I found a rangefinder one of the first times I played DayZ, and I couldn't figure out how the heck to use it. Is it a glitched item/hack? I could see the icon in the gear loadout, but couldn't figure out which key was "mapped" to the rangefinder. Later I found NVG and had them in the same slot. "N" worked for the NVG, however it didn't work for the rangefinder. Is it like the GPS on screen where you press CTRL+M to get it to work?Anyone have any ideas? Google didn't help. drakenof 9 Posted May 12, 2012 Rangefinder works as binoculars. So by default it's " B ". Also rangefinder are rare as fuck in DayZ and that's fucking ridiculous.0.11 % looting chance, really ? Really ?
pricelinenegotiator 1 Posted May 12, 2012 Telling you man, I punched every key on my keyboard and NOTHING popped up. Damn shame, could have used it with my DMR for rangefinding.
benneh1 1 Posted May 12, 2012 Yup, it uses the same bind as Binoculars - B.Be aware though, that from what I've seen, you can only have two things equipped out of Rangefinders, Bino's and NVGs. If you have RF and Bino's, whatever is in the Top Left slot of the gear loadout, will be used when pressing B.
karbiner 29 Posted May 12, 2012 NVG's are in the other slot :P So you will only loose your bino's. I preffer the RF over the Bino's since i only play on veteran server and i need to know ranges sometimes to snipe someone (a) Now I use gridblocks since they are 100m wide etc to estimate distances for zeroing in my rifle:P

-=Grunt=- (DayZ) 0 Posted May 12, 2012 I believe the rareness of the rangefinder is due to it's in-built night vision. At night, you can press B to look through it and then press N to activate the NV.

karbiner 29 Posted May 12, 2012 You cant use your NVG while aiming thru a sniperscope so its hard enaugh already ;)
