Serjekk 3 Posted January 23, 2014 (edited) I was under the impression public servers, not private hive servers, were not allowed to do such things as banning/kicking players without cause. I read the server hosting rules a few times, maybe I was mistaken? Edited January 23, 2014 by Serjekk
Chauz 166 Posted January 23, 2014 Read the thread in my signature for reporting them. Forum staff cant do much about this.
mssing 34 Posted January 23, 2014 there are no rule against booting ..or even restarting servers... actually, rules clerlay states that restarting is allowed!

Chauz 166 Posted January 23, 2014 there are no rule against kicking players. i like to think that the ability to kick players was added to deal with hoppers. That is a pretty stupid idea if that would be the case, before you even know that he is a server hopper he would have left the server already...
mssing 34 Posted January 23, 2014 That is a pretty stupid idea if that would be the case, before you even know that he is a server hopper he would have left the server already.....fact remains: i can kick him/her if i please. you should know this and stop asking others to report servers/admins. Chauz 166 Posted January 23, 2014 Where did I ask him to report the server? In creating this thread with the information given he already tried reporting the server I only pointed him towards the right thread. Don't try to make stuff up, thank you.

Oh really? Then why does it clearly state this? Obtained from: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/55657-start-here-a-beginners-guide-to-dayz-servers-and-administration/ IMPORTANT: There are RULES that you need to follow as a server administrator. They are as follows:The server MAY NOT be passwordedYou MAY NOT run any other mods, or keys. You CANNOT kick other players for your friends and clanmatesYou CANNOT lock the server for ANY reason at ANY timeYou CANNOT edit the DayZ Mod mission filesBattleye MUST be installed and running at ALL TIMESMinimum slot count of 40 (30 for countries where bandwidth is expensive i.e. developing countries)You may only ban players for two reasons: Malicious talk, and racism. You may only kick for disruptive behavior (such as continued VOIP over side channel).Kicking for extremely excessive ping or desync is permitted, but if abused is grounds for blacklisting
mssing 34 Posted January 23, 2014 i might be wrong but i strongly belive that you are reading wrong ruleset. i think you need to read the rules for the dayz standalone.

In creating this thread with the information given he already tried reporting the server I only pointed him towards the right thread. Don't try to make stuff up, thank you.you are right. you did not ask him to report anything. while i stand corrected i need to state that perhaps my annoyense with players confusing mod rules with standalone alpha rules, got to me. i apologize. Chauz 166 Posted January 23, 2014 (edited) Confusing is understandable as the team first pointed towards the "Mod Rules" and now have a 4 rules for "Standalone". And from what I understood reading allot of threads they kept pointing towards mods rules that included unjustified kicks (clearing room for clanmembers/getting killed ect). And I doubt all the sudden only those 4 rules count, Would be nice if they would clear up some off this. So the "older" members got pointed towards the old mod rules in the beginning of Alpha release and the "newer" members only being pointed to the SA rules atm. byrgesen 1341 Posted January 23, 2014 (edited) Report the server, so the scums can get whats coming to them.We players need to start doing this more, Admins should be afraid of the "power" we have, so they simply dont abuse they're power anymore.Report the bastard i say!!!I want to add aswell, for SA, refer to the rules posted in the SA forums, not the mod forums tbh. Thats why they are sepperated tbh.DayZ SA server rules:http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/158966-dayz-standalone-server-hosting-rules-server-reporting/ Here is a list of DayZ Standalone hosting rules as per the Devs:You may NOT change your servers slotsYou may NOT password your serverYour server must contain the version number and whether it is 3PP:ON or OFF i.e. "DayZ UK 5-xx (Public/3PP:OFF) 113925 - Hosted by GamingDeluxe.co.uk"Your server must NOT have a NO KILL policyHicks has further clarified the following on twitter:Server operators MAY frequently restart their rented instances in order to keep the time at a certain point..Failure to comply with these rules could result in a suspension of your server without a refund. EDIT:I see theres no actual rule about kicking, strangely enough though, my bad folks.... -_-EDIT2:Ive written the forums mods, asking them to clarify the rules for SA, because i simply dont believe they will condone kicking for no reason, when that was never the case in the mod.Lets see what they say about it :) Edited January 23, 2014 by Byrgesen
Serjekk 3 Posted January 23, 2014 Lots of good input here. I apparently read the wrong rules as well. I am also aware the forum mods cannot do anything about him kicking players from his server. This post wasn't meant for the forum moderators to moderate his server but was instead meant as a warning to others. As for reporting the issue, I have no way to find out if the server host has more stringent rules as I do not know who hosts his server. NokiaHead is not an official server hosting service that I'm aware of so it could be a private host. Anyway, I figured since I like to know ahead of time before wasting my time with a server, I thought I'd extend the courtesy. This was also meant as a heads up for the devs to point out a problem, from my point of view, caused by people on public servers which I feel shouldn't be an issue. Not everyone will agree with my views, but my opinions are mine to express for this up and coming Alpha. Agree/Disagree and share your views and opinions. That's what we're here for right? boneboys 7988 Posted January 24, 2014 People need to REPORT the Server directly to the hosting company if and only if, they have some form of proof.http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/158966-dayz-standalone-server-hosting-rules-server-reporting/#entry1603380Until we have some new instructions or reporting system this is the only recourse open.
