Problems with brightness

Recommended Posts

So I understand that it is supposed to be pretty dark at night, but when playing side by side with a friend mine is a lot darker. I have adjusted my screen and in game brightness to max and its still almost unplayable. I could give a bunch of examples but I don't want to bore you with details. I thought about trying to adjust the brightness on my graphics card but the friend I play with said I shouldn't. Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Fixed (for now)- I turned up my HDR and then turned off clouds and cranked up the gamma as well. I can now at least see what im doing.

Use torches ;) That's what they are for. Also it is darker when you look away from light sources because your eyes have not adjusted to the dark. In game your eyes adjust to the dark only slightly.

Albeit night is a tad darker than in real life because your eyes IRL adjust to constant darkness when in game they do not.

(I think)

Anyway night needs a bit of tweaking.

I read you have to turn clouds off for the gamma exploit to work. Haven't checked myself but nights are pretty dark on Earth with no artificial light sources or moonlight

Well I guess I will give one example. We were going to a different town and I glanced over at his screen and could easily make out the road. Look back at mine and you cannot see the road and its hard to make out my character at all. And using a flashlight is like going around yelling " Look at me - Look at me " lol

Yup, better get used to it. Because many not now, many not in 2 months, but someday adjusting those sliders will not help you much.
