Reading thru this thread made my head hurt? can't we all just get along? The great thing about the mod was to customize our servers to play they way we wanted ? there are 3 tyes of night cycles join the one you want. I hate the darkness in this game as it is pitch black, but early evening/morning it does brighten up but last night was unplayable due to the new server configs and being reset so the 24/7 day/night were not working correctly.

I dont think they took away the night... It just looks like once the servers got back up, they defaulted to standard cycle on a GMT time zone, so us here in the NA are looking at a bunch of servers that are at 3am currently. Not a big deal, wait a couple of hours and the sun will come up. Hopefully in the next week or so, server hosters will balance server time zones, but honestly the 24/7 day servers should stay away

 

if people want 24/7 daylight servers, there will be 24/7 daylight servers. neglecting the wants of potential consumers (lots of them at that) is ignoring potential $$. game developers are not ones to ignore what people want OR ignore money

I like the night but not as it is with the gamma thing, but you do realize that most of the people have day jobs and only few hours of play late at night!!

Yeah I'm also gonna be getting my money back because my character keeps resetting, loot is only respawned on server restart and vehicles aren't even in the game omgwtfbbq.

Seriously amazed by this thread, it's an alpha and it's heavily subject to change. You can't honestly expect this to be permanent?

 

And in the not-so-probable case it does stay permanent, it's a survival simulator that's (apart from zombies) gonna be pretty realistic, you have to survive nights too. Also I don't know if it's just me, or some moon cycle shit that's temporary, but night time has become more clear then pre-patch, so it's even more doable without exposing yourself with a flashlight.

Well the way i look at it, you should have a option for how ever you wish to play. Servers should have a option to have it 24/7 day or night, They pay for the game and then pay for the servers on top of that. They should be able to do what they wish with their server, IE day, night, RP, private, public... If you pay 120$ a month for a server and cant control the server how you wish and they take away the 24/7 day option( if that is true )will hurt this game honestly. There are a lot of people that rather play in the daytime due to more than just one reason. It will certainly hurt sales on both sides and I'm sure will have the affect on a lot of players in the game and server owners breaching contract due to the fact to be unable to personalize their server. Also players will  quit or ask for their money back from steam, Just my opinion, Also had a question of my own.... is there a option to see what server you have a profile on???? I know your gear doesn't go from one server to another but honestly i didn't see a marker for profiles on each server? this will be rather difficult to find your profile

DayZ is NOT about convenience.If you want a game where you can do what you want play something else.If the devs want to enforce rules on private servers they can do that as much as they want.

I wish we had control over Steam to be able to refund your cash.

 

This is not the game for you as it stands.

 

TBH I'd keep away from the Alpha until the game is near completion, you'll have a much better time.

 

We are lucky that the game loads up and plays for an Alpha.

 

I mean what I say with  no rudeness or sarcasm, but this is a far from complete release, if you are expecting perfectly balanced, feature full, 100pc solid gameplay every time you boot up DAYZ you will be sorely disappointed.

 

If you want to experience the excitement of an early build and seeing how the game evolves over the next year or so, then jump on in.

Yeah the times are not accurate for the actual time zones at all. Now the only day servers I can find are ones that reset my character and the ping is bad. I would love to play at night in dayz, if you could fucking see without changing settings to make everything look ugly as shit. I can walk outside in the woods at night and see way more than in dayz. Its just simply to dark, and annoying. So right now, I'm actually just not playing it.

Moderators are not a part of the DayZ Team, we are merely forum moderators; we're here to moderate. My opinion on the game does not affect my ability to effectively moderate the forums.

The game is constantly being changed and updated. As I said on another topic, it is progress. Things will be implemented in that users will not like, but it is a part of the testing process.
