Hi all, i am so sorry for asking this stupid question, i feel like a newb, but.....How do i know if im playing DayZ or DayZ Standalone?

Steam?

 

Standalone : Seperate game, called DayZ

 

Mod : Requires arma 2 CO, called DayZ mod

its alright everyone has been there, if you pay'd 30 dollars for a game that was just called "DayZ" its the standalone.

The dayz mod runs off of Arma 2. So if you don't have Arma 2, then you have the standalone version. The standalone version also has a picture of your character with a background behind them on the starting screen (the mod doesn't). I think if you're running on steam the mod is listed as a mod.

Pretty sure it says dayz standalone when you make the purchase on steam, but it only says dayz in your library. Thats because it is a "standalone" game. The original was a mod of Arma 2, which means you would be launching arma 2 from your steam library to play it. Dayz mod is basically arma 2. You would know if you were playing it because you need to go out of your way to make it work, unlike standalone which launches from steam as if it is its own game, because it is. That's what makes standalone stand alone. Silly puns :D
