ROUTER INTERNET PROBLEMS

Recommended Posts

hello, i dont know how explain this.

this is really weird to say, but i am 90% for sure that this game is causing this, and i would like to know if someone have noticed this too.

when i "refresh" server list like 3-4 times in a row, my router stop works. No warning lights on , but my internet conection stop working, or work really really slowly. i cant open webs, streams, nothing, but if i was already in skype, teamspeak, or looking some stream, this is still running without problems.

this problem solves in 5-10 min, and internet conection working again.

i tested to make a "speed test" in my movilphone when this problem happens, and wifi in my phone is not working too, so i am 100% sure that is router colapse and not pc single pc stop working.

i have never router colapse, NEVER. i can play for 3 months another games, streams, webs, downloads, uploads..... but if i open DAYZ and refresh server list several times, my internet stop working.

i am not informatician ingenier, but i understand and i know a lot of about computers still.

so dont answer me things like, have you antivirus working? firewalls etc????.........

i just want to know if anyone have noticed about this problem, because i told my friends, and noone have it.

anyone knows if this is posible. i am not sure why this is happening but its related with dayZ

edit: i have 50 MB download  5 MB upload

What's your download speed?

I experience it when I reach my data cap and my net has been slowed it only happens in dayz and 7 days to die every other game is fine.

Happens to me too! I've seen a couple of threads on this. Once the server list stops refreshing, my net drops entirely, like my router has been ddos'd/flooded lol.

For the sake of reference I'm on fibre optic cable, 200mb down/20up.

Might be an issue related to  your combination of router and whatever Dayz is passing through it (not a tech obviously).

I had a wireless USB adapter that would knock out my connection for 5 minutes if I had steam downloads going over 5 MB/sec.

Tried variety of things but ended up just replacing with a newer adapter and all is good.

Is your router firmware up to date?
How old is the router?

I know some old routers are having trouble handling the traffic from never software, simply because the firmware isnt being updated anymore.

I am sitting in a 2/2 mb/s line (slow as fuck) and i share it with 3 other people but i have no problems what so ever with the game, or the server list.
The router is only 1 year old and fully updated, so that might be the cause of it mate.

Never experienced it myself but I'm guessing it could be the game doing it, it would be pinging A LOT of servers if you had repeatedly clicked refresh on the server list.

I know in the past if I loaded up DayZ commander and refreshed all the mod servers it would kill off my internet while that was refreshing.

Could be the same thing.

Shouldn't need to repeatedly refresh though, just once should work, just wait for it to go thru the list.

On my side it's all wired, no wireless nonsense. Router/firmware is well up to date.

As for multiple refresh, it wouldn't happen so much if there was a way to show what time of day the server was before you joined. Joining 4-5 night servers in a row will invariably result in multiple near back-to-back refreshes (you don't want to join a server with 20-30 people to try and gear up just because it says 24/7 day time after all).

Refresh once, find a few servers you like the look of, add them all to favourites and then use the favourite server list to go through one by one, that might help?

Obv un-fav the ones that aren't good.

I did that and now usually only play on one of 3 or 4 different servers and so never have any trouble.

I also have this problem. I recently changed isp and went from a 2mb adsl network to a 14 mb optic fiber. The old router didnt have any problems at all with dayz, everything worked nice and easy, but the new one has this problems and the server list only gives me servers form Australia, suth africa or brazil, all of them with over 400 ping.
Btw whats your router model? my new one is a thomson, i dont know the model (box doesnt specify), but its a fairly new one

I have the same problem exactly as you describe it. i also used to have this problem with the mod and specifically dayz commander. i solved the problem by lowering the max connections from daycommander, but i dont beleive its possible now from ingame. i strongly beleive thats the reason the router locks up for a few minutes.
