xTITANx 25 Posted January 22, 2014 So I was thinking about my m4 and I realized that I absolutely have no idea how to use one in real life. My character shouldn't either. I bring this up because it would be fun and interesting if we had to clean the weapons we find to keep them in working order. For someone who doesn't know how to break down a weapon and clean it this might be hard at first but over time I would learn how it goes together like a puzzle. Maybe they could add oil or cleaner to clean all of the individual parts, or if a barrel was damaged you might be able to swap it out.

IkaikaKekai 1957 Posted January 22, 2014 Think they should add 'how to manuals' to the game to help along thous lines. If you find one and read it you have an easier time of doing whatever action it was for (Medical Journals, First Aid manuals, survival manuals, gun maintenance manuals, Owner's Manuals for vehicles). Manuals would have directions on how to break down your weapon. Maybe it could be a sort of minigame to take it apart instead of simply dragging the icon off and swapping it. Awruk 216 Posted January 22, 2014 Exactly, instead of your character developing imaginary skills, it's YOU who develops new skills through a mini game.

Imagine a game teaching you to field strip your m4 or ak or whatever. that's awesome stuff
Master_Corruptor 10 Posted January 22, 2014 The idea is probably ok.. but the game engine will probably not alow for such an amount of detail. Just imagine the free inventory space you would need to dissasemble and clean the M4.
Vector636 30 Posted January 22, 2014 Although its nothing as realistic as field striping, Misery recently has added a lot of items for weapon maintenance. They have manuals but it just increases repair%, maybe the manuals could tell you what items you would need to properly clean or repair the gun.

Just imagine the free inventory space you would need to dissasemble and clean the M4. well maybe along with the toolbox you would need to have some sort of workbench or you would simply use the "vicinity" area, although I didn't imagine it within the context of the current UI. I imagined a separate minigame/ui system that let you disassemble and reassemble a weapon. This would allow you to assess the individual parts on the base M4, beside the hadgrip, stock, and sight. Things like the barrel, trigger, firing mechanism (i honestly have no idea what i'm talking about here ) could then be cleaned and swapped out. This would allow you to take a damaged M4 and make a new pristine one. It would also allow for things like misfires due to a dirty or damaged weapon during combat. I'n an apocalypse I'm not cleaning any AR family weapon.
