Does the new patch mean Private Servers/Hives now?

Hi everyone, I just wanted to ask about the new experimental patch that just rolled out.

 

Firstly, my knowledge of servers and hives isn't great, so bare with me. But as I understand it, the reason people can server hop and ghost is because all servers are connected to a central hive, meaning all player data is saved and accessible on any server, did I get that right?

If I did, then private hives would sort of solve this correct?

 

Anyway so I was reading the changelog and I saw the mention of "Sub-Hives", is this the same thing, does it mean private servers and hives will be showing up soon?

 

Sorry if I've got this ass backwards, I'm just very interested as I'm sick to the back teeth of people logging/alt-F4'ing, ghosting and everyone having full military kit within 15 mins of spawning from server hopping.

 

Some wisdom would be appreciated,

Private hives have its pros and cons, the problems you mentioned are fixed by this. BUT a huge problem i have with them is on the mod a lot of the GOOD private hives shut down after a while from lack of payment, leaving hardcore players hanging and with wasted time. But Public hives completely erase that problem. But like i said doesn't fix the ones you mentioned

Yeah I can see what you mean, I can't imagine a private hive would be cheap to run, shame :-\

Well hopefully Rocket and the devs may add a delay when logging, like I think they had in the mod if I remember correctly, where you log out the server but your character stays standing there for 20-30 seconds. And maybe but I'm not sure if it would be possible, a delay between leaving a server to being able to join another.

 

I just hate these little "Call of DayZ" players that just wanna ruin everyone's fun, I mean yeah sure shoot another player but don't log if they shoot back or camp out an airbase, kill someone then log, join a different server and kill another..... and rinse and repeat.

Drives me nuts.

I am running a server that, at the first chance I get, will be private hive. The server is 1st person only and light RP (not a requirement but something to consider if you like it). The following links gives an idea of what we are about.

Sub-Private Hives are what they are calling them in the SA. From my understanding they will have their own DB but it won't be local as well as the server files being locked. Not sure what kind of rules these sub-privates will have to adhere to but they won't be moddable at this point in time.
