Ranking / Honor system to deal with KOS issue

okay so i don't know if this idea has been suggested at all, but i would like to share it regardless :)

 

so i'm guessing a lot of you have unfortunately been killed on sight whether you are a fresh spawn or are fully kitted up and it is a pain when some guy says hes a friendly and then shoots you in the back.

 

what i think would be a good idea to kind of resolve this issue is to implement a ranking / honor system into the game where if you help a player buy giving blood or giving them food and water you would earn say 5-10 honor points a time and if you kill a player your honor points would get deducted by say 50 points. if you don't have any honor points and you kill someone then the points you get could be called dishonor points shall we say..

 

i think this could indeed have an inpact on whether a player chooses to kill someone on sight or not..

 

maybe further down the line if the developers do implement this system into the game, you could buy certain items with these honor or dishonor points depending if you are friendly or a bandit, to maybe have a headstart when you next respawn or have items that can only be bought from NPC's

 

just a suggestion on how i think the KOS issue could be reduced. if you do agree please comment to get the attention of the developers !

They tried this in the mod with humanity and it didn't really work out. Bandits could spam stuff to their friends and become hero's and good people have obtained the bandit status simply for defending themselves. They might be able to make it work by making it more complicated then what they had in the mod but might be difficult.

You still didn't use the search function. NPC's have been talked about, and got the "will never happen" answer from rocket. So there's that.

Well if someone replies with "you idiot", he sounds like a kid to me. Don't care how old you are, it's immature and doesn't help your case one bit. And please don't make assumptions about me, you don't know me. 

 

Back to topic, if you don't know if it has been suggested, how about using the search function? All of what you suggested has been suggested lots of times already, and the community to which you are very new (not that that is a bad thing), doesn't like NPC's, OR any kind of honor/ranking systems very much. Lets just leave it at that.

Calling someone idiot because he does not agree with your idea which in fact is ridiculous and suggesting you go play a game where you can buy from an NPC ? Also at no point he insulted you, you started it.

This game is meant to be a sandbox, meaning you can do whatever you want and there is no reward or punishment.

Your idea is bad because the definition of good and bad respectively honor and dishonor is taken from Theme Park MMOs like WoW, where the game tells you what good and bad is. DayZ is a Sandbox MMO and there is no one to tell me or you what good or bad is. Theme Park MMOs rely on a system to force thier players in a specific direction along the "theme". Sandbox MMOs don't. In a sandbox, you define what good and bad is, not the game. KOS is a playstyle in the sandbox. Being friendly and talk to people is another.

 

So who are you to tell me how to play this game?

Is KoS really an issue?  Yesterday, I ran into 6-8 people I didn't know (in the area north of Berezino).  all but two had guns and no one shot at me or was aggro.   

 

 

Maybe I am an exception.  Note it was a first person server.  Everyone had a healthy amount of fear for their life, but no one started shooting or charging headlong into gunfire with an ax.

 

 

Everyone I met was friendly.  I guess I am pretty good at avoiding bandits.  I have seen some people you seemed like bandits, but I saw them first and avoided them.  

 

I don't think any morality system is necessary.

I don't want any KoS systems implemented, it is fine how it is. This is a game where you make your own choices and I don't want to be dictated on how I make my own choices.
