Reading books?

Ive collected a couple books, but I havent figured out how to actually read them.  Im assuming they are readable since people say they can, but when i inspect it i just get the rotating image of the item.  Now, while im typing this, i realize i havent tried actually putting the book in my hand.  Is that the secret?

Kinda. You have to put it in the actionbar in order to put it in your hand (dragging to hands in inventory wont work).

You'll need to drag the book to a desired hotkey function on the bottom of your screen in order to read them.

 

Also, all books you find are complete. I am not sure if the condition of books are considered as a factor at the moment.

Are all the books full? Like hundreds of pages? Anyone sat down and finished one? Cheers for the answers on how to read books. Can now do something when it's dark, with a lamp. :D

It's never even occurred to me that you can read the books, I've always taken them for worthless junk and never picked one up! Might have to this, setup camp, read a book and live a little outside of Berezino for a while!

My new dayz friends were confused, asked what I was doing, when I proceeded to pick one up.

 

I replied it was for when I wanted to make a fire.

 

I think I confused them even more.
