Bows, we need BOWS

Dean himself is excited for bows. He has said this many times.

He wants them in as bad as anyone, so be patient if bows can happen they will happen.

 

Once bows and other improvised weapons are introduced, thats when military weapons will be drastically decreased from spawning.

the only probles i see with bows:

 

1) How to aim with them in first person? Do we have any sights ? Whats about the arrow drop?

2) Is the bow going to be a primary weapon? I hope not, i hope you can either have it in your backpack or its consider a melee weapon (which would just be awesome)... We could run around with a moisin and a bow on the back :D :D :D :D

i hope they add those soon, but i guess it should be bow+quiver or Rifle-/Melee-Weapon, have Rife, Axe and bow is to much..

and also make a craftable version that you can "easily" obtain after you spawn. It shouldnt be a great pvp weapon but enough to hunt and defend yourself.

 

Crossbow, atleast the one in the picture posted should be really rare....

 

i really hope they add more of theese craftable weapons and all military grade weapons become ultra rare... at the moment its a bit boring to see everyone with full military gear running arround. it leads to more kos with no looting... i want more player interactions, trading and so on. Not everyone running arround with the same top notch stuff.

1) Using a bow requires skill. (enough said)

2) This is no problem actually, just a preference.

 

Bows would change the whole game, if they were easy to craft/obtain. Why that is? Because freshspawns on the coast could defend themselves from bambie killing bandits. Not so sure if bandits want to risk their gear just to kill dangerous people with arrows.

Crafting bow does take skill and various items, a knife or some form of rope/yarn to create. I doubt bambies would be able to craft one immediately. You would think knives would be less rare than they are on the coast. Arrows are exciting because, survival wise, arrows can be crafted and reused while bullets are manufactured and used up, unless you have the right equipment which is expensive and heavy. Being able to retrieve arrows from dead zombies or animals or even other people is pretty cool. Also there are bows which are called Take-Downs in which they actually come apart to save space and fit into tubes, so that could sling accross your back in a melee or gun spot. Bows also have a shorter range then guns and take more skill to shoot accurately. Sights and bow attachable quivers do exists and all should be something you would need to find.

When/if they do implement bows, I sure hope there is a steep learning curve with them.  I've tried firing a bow a couple times in my life (compound and non) and it's tricky for sure.  Just hitting anywhere on the target from 20 yards away is challenging and can take a couple tries.  Crossbows would be easier to use - just as in real life.

 

I guess it is one of those realism versus what would be good for the game questions - a fresh spawn being able to craft a bow by hitting some industrial sites within five to ten minutes of spawning could be a good thing I suppose.  But how many people would even know how the craft one properly?  I mean, I consider myself a smart guy, but I really don't think I could make a good bow (probably could make one, but quality...ewe...) and I'm pretty sure I'd make crap arrows too.  I guess crafted bows would have to have wild inaccuracy.

 

That all said, I think it would great if you could retrieve arrows from a body - animal, zombie, or otherwise.  Either have show up as loot in the targets' inventory - likely with having had it's quality reduced one or two steps - or simply have it as a actionable option when looking at the body.

Definitely need regular bow and arrow. , not just crossbow . That way we could make our own quivers and arrows and be badassly stealthy .

I would love to see easily craftable, but lousy, bows and arrows as the first weapon for newspawners.

 

Sneak through few houses to find a knife, rope, razors and some pillow feathers, and then head out to the woods to find suitable saplings.

 

Something to use for the zombies you fail to sneak by ('cause I'm hoping that in the future melee with zombies will be the worst idea ever).
