SA - Please no Ghillie Suits but how about Rain Coats ? and some changes on backpacks ?

Recommended Posts

Ghillie suits are really rare used equipment even for military actions. plz dont add these to dayz. So rain coats are really cool looking and useful equipment. There must be civlian, police and military raincoats in this game. Civilian coats must be yellow as boat crews can be found on shipwrecks and harbors. police verison must be dark blue and also there must be Police writing on back. If that writing glows in dark that would be great. Also there must be Camo military version but it needs to be rare.   P.s. i cant imagine our characters how cool looking with military raincoat and gasmask ;)

Also i heard there is gonna be hard weathers in dayz maybe that item helps us on rainy days to stay dry and warm.

For a last thing about rain coats: rain coats should not wear as top clothes there should be a 3rd slot on characters to wear that. also ( the hardest part to modeling i guess : rain coats should not cover your backpack like you carrying no backpacks, that should cover on it but backpack should be idenical. maybe that helps people with orange backpacks :D )

backpack slot Changes -------

Backpack tetris thing is most beautiful thing in dayz until now. But there is chaos while you arrange your items in big backpacks.

there is the thing. : Divide backpacks to 4 or 5 pieces on character menu . i mean in real life backpacks has some little side slots and 2 main big slots ( depends on what type of pack it is ) its not sack or box :)   with that feature ppl gonna put their first aid kit and medical items to one part. food and drink to other. weaponary and other stuff to some other part of backpack.

cheers and sorry for my english if i did mistakes :)

There are already yellow and orange rain coats. There are also dark green rain coats. So basically you are asking for a blue rain coat with POLICE written on the back.

Im all for ponchos.
Of all colors and patterns :) I use my own alot when i go hiking, so it should not be uncommon to find cheap ponchoc in a ex-soviet country, where it rains alot hehe

But you should change the thread name mate, people are gonna bitch because we already have rain coats :)

Most of my point about cool and dramatic looking characters. I dont want a pll with military ponchos sitting at top of cities sniping ppl from no where. Thats not my point at all. Maybe devs can solve that with huge ponchos. ı mean while you moving you ll be easy to spot with huge poncho and with your backpack youll be look like as big as bear :)

Looking from a completely different perspective, a poncho could keep you dry during rain?

So you dont have to make a fire and dry your clothes.

So basicly when it rains, you pull out the poncho, put it on and keep doing what you are doing, then take it off afterwards.

Just a thought.

I disagree with most of what you're saying just so you know.

Good to know. Thanks for sharing.

finding perfect ghillie would be weir in 90s soviet country i agree with that but if we can craft sometihng like this standard.jpgi mean its always better create something than find it at helicrash or some building. maybe some features like adding some bushes on our helmet

pS: i dont wanna think about seing 5 guy group with motocycle helmets like this one  :D its gonna look like some sort of monthy python parody  :Dsoldier_camo_helmet-face_375.jpg

"Ghillie suits are really rare used equipment even for military actions."

They may not be commonly in use everywhere, but in the DayZ setting with 3 military airbases in a small map, much of the landscape having wide open fields, and with snipers already being one of the more common weapons, they should absolutely be in-game.  Most likely rare-ish, but definitely in-game.

"So rain coats are really cool looking and useful equipment. There must be civlian, police and military raincoats in this game."

Agreed, but I don't agree on your color suggestions.  Even civilian versions should be available in all (or most colors), but just as a regular raincoat covering your upper torso.  There may also be a police version which is slightly longer, and typically in darker colors. (Dark blue/green/black is OK for this.)  And at last I agree there should be a military version, which is typically in different camo patterns (sort of like the pants and assault vests are right now), and in the form of a poncho.  Maybe even with a ghillie suit attached to it.  This should keep you completely dry no matter what when you have it equipped. (See my signature for my latest suggestion to how rain/wetness should affect your character. (Also applicable to your suggestion of weather affecting dry/warm on character.)

"For a last thing about rain coats: rain coats should not wear as top clothes there should be a 3rd slot on characters to wear that."

Agreed.  Rain coats is a cover above your main clothes, not a replacement.

Why? when i put on a raincoat, poncho or my dryz'n'bone there are all 3/4 or full length. I hate having wet pants.

thx for your comment and ideas. I need to explain my main point for colors. If there is so many camo patterned raincoats on civilian buildings everyone will have only these ones. No one will wear shiniy yellow or dark police one. Because camoflage reasons. If military camo version spawns rare problem will solve. because on rain pll gonna need to stay dry and being forced to wear what they have even yellow boat crew version.  But i do expect upgrading clothes with other materials like some wood or leaves and paint  into something serves camouflage expectations. You need to find upgrade materials to do that of course.

----I mean maybe some kind of harvest mechanism for bushes. with your sharp objects like knife, axe and saw   we harvest some bushes and add them on our poncho with tape, glue or sowing equipments.

---- devs confirmed item upgrading and crafting mechanism maybe they can add that too :/

Definitely should have Poncho's.  Ghillies I could live without, but if they have to add them for the fanboys then atleast make it like any other piece of clothing, you have to find every piece to make a full ghillie suit.  Head, jacket, pants, gloves - that should be acceptable, no full suits.

As far as Civilian clothing goes, I am hoping to see some items kind of related to Fallout 3 & New Vegas...

For example:

- Mad Scientist/Medic clothing

- Powerplant/Factory worker clothing

- Bandito Attire w/ Bandoleers, etc.

- Leg pistol holsters (rare)

- POWER ARMOR!!!

   ^^Loljk.  You get the idea.

I like the poncho idea though man, for real.  Definitely needs to be considered when the development gets to the point of changing harsher climates in the DayZ World.

Fwiw, I love the idea of a leg holster, or possibly even one for each leg, but, only if your wearing jeans.

What I'm thinking is a leg holster that gives you a slot for a pistol, plus 2/3 mags (maybe limit the slots so they can 'only' take pistol/ammo) . However it can't be used with cargo type trousers because it impedes the leg pockets - hense jeans only, then players have to decide if they want cargo trousers with extra pockets, or jeans with leg holster(s). Kind of gives jeans more if a purpose besides rags, and if the leg holster is rare(ish) then you just have a high value trade item if nothing else.

Also would like to see a military burgen style backpack, you know, the long cylindrical types that hold a ton of stuff, as maybe the highest capacity backpack.

Being able to use spray cans on rags, and then use said sprayed rags to camo your rifle would be nice, and maybe to add to clothing (possibly just military types) to make them into ghillie suit parts.

Some kind of belt(s) would be cool, no idea if feasible though, but say, a hunters belt that takes shotgun shell's, police belt to take your torch/handcuffs/2/3 pistol mags or a military belt with room for handcuffs/pistol/riles mags/canteen, or just full on military webbing with swap-out compartments.

I know some might be a stretch, or even not possible, but at least their not sifi stuff, these things do at least exist irl.

Pistol holsters should be limited to one, not two leg holsters IMO.  How often does someone use a pistol to begin with, when you have a primary and an Axe to use on Zed's?  It would be excessive to have two.

Can't imagine a single decent reason why we wouldn't want ghillie suits. Personally I can't wait for them. Downbeans.

military poncho's don't "keep you dry" they just keep you less wet.

I do like the idea of sectioning backpacks into different compartments, that would add situational value to the bags as well as size/volume restrictions.
