Slaughterhouse 16 Posted January 20, 2014 I haven't been able to play in a week because of steams stupid safegaurd that keeps sending verification email to sina.com instead of my email which is some chinese website. Account is not hacked, password still works just wants me to verify this computer even though all my steam games are on it. So basically because steam has the very worst customer service from any company in the world, i've spent money on this game and cannot play it because of this third party provider. Can you at least make it where you can play without the support of steam once you've bought the game?
King of kong 1117 Posted January 20, 2014 I don't think it's possible. Use Google Chrome and go to this chinese thing and G Chrome will ask if you need translations
SmashT 10907 Posted January 20, 2014 Not going to happen. The game relies on Steam for everything, you need it to play. They dropped Gamespy for server browser management and now use Steams instead. The game uses Steam for it's anti-cheat (VAC). Updates to the game are all done through Steam's delta-patching system. They are using Steam for anti-piracy and fraud protection. Contact Steam Support about your Steam Account issue.
Shrapnel (DayZ) 13 Posted January 20, 2014 So your asking for DayZ to drop steam just because you cant use your steam account due to your account email being changed? Wow.. Seems a bit extreme. Sucks that your account is fucked, but thats not DayZs problem. Contact Valve and deal with it there, nothing anyone here can do.
Dchil 829 Posted January 20, 2014 This changing your email via the steam website and not the client. If you can't then call steam.

So you claim Steam has your user email set to a random Chinese media company/website but that your account has not been hacked. In that case, who set your email to that website's domain? You also claim that Steam has the "worst customer service from any company in the world" which leads me to believe you have never interacted with EA or Activision customer support. At any rate, this is a Steam issue and I find it somewhat suspect that your email was set to a chinese domain without your knowledge even though you adamantly claim your account hasn't been hacked.
Slaughterhouse 16 Posted January 20, 2014 dude my account hasn't been hacked. Its just sending the authentication for this computer to the wrong place. It did the same on my old computer about 3 years ago. And you can google and look at all the people who have experienced this. You cannot call steam support either. They respond only be email. Last time it took almost a month before i got a reply. Not resolved. A reply. Going on about a week and a half now. It's all funny till you have to deal with steam support. I've dealt with EA. At least i'd hear something in a couple days. Nothing like waiting a month before you even get them looking into it. Its not on my end its on theirs. I could have stopped this. And i'll warn anyone so hopefully no one else has to deal with this nonsense. You can turn off their steam guard in your settings. Something i should have done a long time ago. I didn't think i'd have much luck on these forums but was kinda hoping i'd find some other form of solution. I cant even log onto my steam account and go into their forums for help because of it. So basically screwed out of my money. Consoles sounding alot better lately. Sorry for those who didnt wanna read a problem in the troubleshooting section. And sorry smashT it was pure frustration of coming to so many dead ends to play a game i fell in love with. And the fact i've had to deal with this before with steam. Extremely frustrating. I've tried about 30 different ideas on ways to fix it. Have 14 remarks on my support ticket and still waiting for first answer from them. Feels pretty bad when you spend your hard earned money and cant use something you bought.
dromagewok@hotmail.com 164 Posted January 20, 2014 So it's steam guards fault that you set some Chinese website as your email?
Shrapnel (DayZ) 13 Posted January 20, 2014 Dude, once again, this isnt an issue caused by DayZ. Many people have lots of problems with their steam account, its nothing new. But your asking Rocket and his team to take a game off steam because your steam account is fucked.. Thats just plain stupid. Depending on the issue, any Customer Support can be terrible, deal with it. Complaining about it wont help in any way. For your issue, it sounds like your account was "hacked" or however you want to put it, and your email was changed to some Chinese website, What you can do to recover the account and have your email changed back is provide proof of ownership, using payment history from any credit car or paypal transaction number, etc. Go here for instructions: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2268-EAFZ-9762 If it doesnt work, your sol, sorry.if it helps, your welcome. Suck it up, quit your bitching, and bear though it.

Also you keep saying your account wasn't hacked, but then explain to me why steam is sending the verification mail to the wrong address?Makes no sense. Sounds to me that someone did hack your account and then set up a different email address. And now you're locked out. In any case this has NOTHING to do with DayZ what so ever... So basically screwed out of my money. Consoles sounding alot better lately. Sorry for those who didnt wanna read a problem in the troubleshooting section. Well, I tried searching Steam support and google for other users saying their verification email was being sent to a chinese website called www.sina.com but I couldn't find anything remotely close to that or even users claiming steam was sending authentication emails to the wrong email address. Perhaps you could provide a link to this issue, which you say has been reported by many users? I have never heard of Steam accidentally resetting your account email address, to an email associated with a Chinese media website. I may be going on a limb here but, you can't access your Steam account and Steam is sending your authentication emails to a Chinese email address...you might have got hijacked. If this has happened to you before, you probably compromised your computer, most likely by downloading some malicious software. You said you were hoping for a solution from the forums but it appears the solution you want is for BI/DayZ to completely remove it's Steam support? Er...? It sounds like what you need to be doing is getting control of your Steam account. Even if you didn't own DayZ, I would think you want to do that anyway. Regardless of whether you think your account was hijacked or not, you may want to try this:https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2347-qdfn-4366 Edited January 20, 2014 by NeedsFoodBadly
Slaughterhouse 16 Posted January 20, 2014 wow what a bunch of tools. I was just looking for a solution and posted it under that title out of sarcasm. Its troubleshooting. If you didnt have anything positive to say then piss off imo. As you seen from my last post i apologized to forum management for way i wrote it up. And for the few being negative my account didnt get hacked, its actually quite simple. I ran malware and it cleans up registry errors. One of these was a steam file. So the game has been unverified on this computer now. The sina.com is not from a hacker its from an error on their end which was explained to me BY STEAM SUPPORT 3 years ago when it happened the first time. The error was caused by an old email address that no longer exists and they supposedly updated my email and the problem was never supposed to happen again. Was just terribly frustrated over once again having to deal with this for what could be another month or more. To the couple actually trying to help thanks, but im pretty sure im just screwed atm. Trying to look at it positively now, maybe it will be fixed by the time i buy my new gaming rig. If not i'll just stay in league till it happens. You can close this thread mods, im done with the negative posts from people with nothing better to do than annoy me with sarcasm, when if it happened to them they'd be equally as pissed. fitzee 248 Posted January 20, 2014 Hi OP. I feel for ya, I'm no fan of steam. I've had my share of issues with it in the past as well(all from bullshit they've done, not I). Now I basically only use it because ArmA 3 and DayZ forced me into it  Don't let the trolltypes get to you lol. Nowadays, it seems like just about anywhere you post something negative about steam you will get a bunch of butthurt people acting like fanboys for some reason. Good luck getting steam sorted.

If you had this problem before and sorted it out with Steam customer support, why don't you just send Steam customer support the old emails detailing the problem? Both myself and Shrapnel posted links to Steam support. No one here works for Steam. Steam support are the only people that can help you with this issue.
