Now your just lying mate i tell you what put a helmut on as the balistic one in game that leaves ya face and more importantly your chin exposed and i will come round do some testing with you. Ill make you a bet ill give you a years wages if you can stay on your feet after 3 hits.

 

I dont think you will stand after 1 shot to the chin from an upper cut.

 

When i knock you out /down i get your years wages deal? time to nut up or shut up....

 

EDIT yes the motor bike helmut offers punch protection not the balistic one.

Please keep in mind that this is a game. Games make sacrifices for balance and usability. 

 

Perhaps for fresh spawns the k.o. chance is a bit high now, and could be looked at from a probability standpoint.However we dont know what kind of armor (save bike helmet's) health stamina and other balancing factors are going to or do effect the ko chance. Until gear/protection, and other systems are fully implemented this currently serves as a way to balance people with mil-spec gear and those with nothing. If you, and your rifle, are foolish enough to let someone get withing 15 feet of you thats your problem. Even in real life the minimum reaction distance is around 15 feet. There is a reason police always have people turn away, put up their hands, lace their fingers behind their head, and lay down on their face.

 

tldr: alpha.

 

Edit: My friend got suckerpunched IRL about 2 months ago. It broke his jaw in 5 places. Punching people in the face is serious business. He was eating through a straw for the last two months.
