So I was just playing and saw this guy in a distance getting attacked by a zombie.  It didn't look like he had a weapon to defend himself so, completely sucking royally at this game, I still decide to run over and help him because I was lucky enough to find an ax which NEVER happens.  I run over and draw the zombies attention to get him off of the other guy then we both book it and eventually get away.  So we're both in a somewhat wooded area now and I notice that I'm bleeding due to the zombie getting a hit on me.  I still don't really know how to bandage myself, sad I know, but every time I take my shirt off to turn it into bandages it just disappears after I drag it into the vicinity box.  Annoying.  I don't have a working mic so I type to the guy like hey do you have any rags and he just didn't respond back to me even though he was still with me.  Is there any reason?  You need a keyboard to play which means you can type and talk.  And he's not the only person to have not responded back when I tried to speak them.  Is there something that disallows people to talk?

Sad but true, been a long time since I played the mod and I forgot how the text chat works. Until I take time to figure it out its voice or im a mute. 

 

Besides I type about 3 words an hour with errors.

i talk on my mic and i say " caps lock for mic" or i'll type hit / for chat nothing so i figured there not a local and i let them hang out if they want

Personally I only talk to other players via mic and don't even know what the type chat button is. If I knew what it was I wouldn't use it. You're liable to get killed typing a message. I don't trust the typers, and even worse are the people who say and type nothing at all. Can't trust those mutes and mimes, squirrely bastards.

To bandage yourself just right click the bandage / rags and wait for the menu, then press use. 

 

Do not drop it in "your vicinity" this is the ground! :)
