Tactical Mirror & Spraypaint warnings

Knife/wooden stick + chewing gum/glue + mirror shard = tactical mirror to see around corner

 

It could be the most important item in a first person gunfight.

The spray paint can be used for many things:

to warn the other players that there might be a bandit in the area

to draw tactics without using direct communication with strangers (it'll not allow the enemy to eavesdrops your conversation)

to set up an ambush

Mirrors in video games aren't very easy to do. They don't really represent the actual vision that you see in your perspective. If you look into the rear view mirror of a car in Arma 2, it's hard to make out of what's behind you. I believe this is fixed in Arma 3, not too sure though but this is a good idea for first person servers especially.

I believe mirrors are a must. U get suppressed by sniper while in cover, there is no other safe way to scan no man's land safely. If they could be crafted in dayz, they would be my second priority after axe.

Mirrors mean that your pc will have to render the entire game twice. Say hello to 2 FPS in cities. Don't worry, though, in the forest you might get a whopping 15 FPS

I like the idea with spraypaint, but it wouldn't be good, I think.

People would spray all the things, and certain situations would go out of hand

Tactical mirrors , unfortunately we'll never see them ingame. Why? 3rd person. They would never implement things that only a fraction of the playerbase would get to see and experience anyway

By that logic they should never have implemented in-game maps because most players use a map in a browser.

 

I like this idea. Could be neat if there was a super-rare fibre-optic camera thing that special forces use to recce rooms before breaching.

If your shooter is 200 m on the other side of the window, under which u hide, explain how 3rd person view is going to help plz...

My FPS is already like 20-25 in cities, which leaves a lot to be desired. Mirrors have a significant impact on performance, though they seem to work in Arma 3 fairly well (horrible performance in MP, tho). If they can up the performance from what it is now, mirrors can be implemented. I haven't seen any improvement on the mod in terms of performance and they've communicated multiple times that this engine is specifically made for DayZ, so I'm expecting a massive improvement at some point.

I'm certain the performance will be improved. DayZ seems to run terribly on most systems - including mine (one of the main reasons I avoid large towns is because of the FPS drop).

It's a pretty solid logic. Why would you take time and effort and moreover risk performance to implement something that won't ever be seen by the majority of gamers. It wouldn't make sense. Maps are therefore not a solid counterargument as it states the perfect issue of a typical game inherent metagaming problem.
